The April Reese's Book Club pick won't be announced for another couple of days, but after a bit of Instagram sleuthing, I think I may have figured it out. Yesterday, Witherspoon, who just celebrated her 49th birthday, posted an Instagram story telling followers about an event she's speaking at with philanthropist, businesswoman and global advocate Melinda French Gates in honor of Gates's upcoming book, The Next Day: Transitions, Change and Moving Forward. Considering the upcoming conversation, and the fact that the two have collaborated in the past, I have a sneaking suspicion The Next Day could be Reese's Book Club's next highlighted title.

The Next Day, set to be published April 15, sees Gates reflecting, for the first time in print, on some of the most significant transitions in her life, including becoming a parent, the death of a dear friend and her departure from the Gates Foundation. According to the book's publisher, Flatiron Books, "The stories she tells illuminate universal lessons about loosening the bonds of perfectionism, helping friends navigate times of crisis, embracing uncertainty and more." Powerful stuff, no?
This wouldn't be the first public conversation between the two powerhouses. Last year, Witherspoon appeared in a video on Gates's YouTube channel.
The video series, entitled “Moments That Make Us,” saw Gates sitting down with iconic changemakers to talk about their biggest life transitions. In this episode, she chatted with Witherspoon about her passion for sharing women’s stories, what it’s like being a working mom in Hollywood, the one question she asks before deciding whether to recommend a book and how she feels when someone doubts her.

So...could this upcoming event (which you can attend if you're in the Seattle area) be a hint that The Next Day will be joining the ranks of Reese's Book Club books? I'm inclined to think so, but only time will tell...
