Princess Diana’s Brother, Charles Spencer, Gives Rare Glimpse of His Wife in New Bday Tribute

Being the history buff that he is, Charles Spencer (brother to the late Princess Diana) usually reserves his Instagram account for little slices of the past that he's dug up, typically related to his family. However, for his latest Instagram post, the 9th Earl Spencer decided to focus on the present, as he celebrated the birthday of his wife, Karen Spencer.

The Countess Spencer is celebrating her 50th birthday today, and to help ring in this major milestone, Charles shared a new photo to Instagram of himself and his wife standing in front of their home, Althorp. Along with the snap, the earl showed his love for his wife in the caption (and managed to slip a bit of history in there as well), where he said, “A very Happy 50th birthday to Karen—suitably, born on a big day—the anniversary of D-Day.”

He went on to show his gratitude for Karen in the rest of the caption, writing, “Founder and CEO of Whole Child International, chatelaine of (and my partner at) Althorp, timeless beauty—and, most importantly of all, mother to three fabulous daughters.”

The pair have been married since 2011, when they tied the knot at their current residence of Althorp. They share one child together, Lady Charlotte Diana Spencer, 9, who was named in honor of her late aunt, Princess Diana.

While Charles tends to post throwback pictures to his Instagram account, we previously saw a snap of Karen back in 2019, when he showed off a portrait that was painted of her by Fabian Perez. In his caption, Charles said, “Standing next to a glorious portrait of @karenspencer that was unveiled at @althorphouse today. The artist, Fabian Perez, worked from photographs of his choice and, without having yet met Karen, has captured her beauty, glamour and strength, with aplomb.”

Happy birthday, Countess Spencer!
