How to Silence Squeaky Wood Drawers

Using something you probably already have in your house

squeakydrawerhero

Indoor humidity levels are all over the map during winter. (Hi, ancient radiator.) And that environmental change wreaks havoc on more than your skin, causing wood to expand and shrink and making your dresser drawers stick and squeak like nobody’s business. Here’s how to silence those suckers.

What you need: A piece of wax paper

What you do: Carefully pull out the drawer and wipe the sides and edges with the wax paper.

Why this works: The wax is gentle on wood and acts as a lubricant to help ease drawers in and out during routine use. And no, it won't hurt the furniture's finish.

It works on metal gliders, too! Just rub the paper on all of the metal parts for a smoother pull.
