From Dipytique to Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Here Are The Best-Smelling Linen Sprays Money Can Buy

I’ve been a hoarder of Lafco’s candles, so it was only a matter of time before I became addicted to their fragrance sprays. This scent, in particular, blends top and middle notes of chamomile and lavender with a floral base of rosemary, patchouli and honey flower. The result falls somewhere between a lavender field in the French Alps and a relaxing spa day at Canyon Ranch. And while I’d buy this for the scent alone, I keep buying it for its odor-removing properties. The formula features patented technology that targets unpleasant odors—surrounds and eliminates them—and acts as a long-term neutralizer. Meaning, that when I spray a pair of jeans (I should’ve washed), they smell like I just brought them home from a high-end boutique. The best part is that each spray provides up to two hours of lasting fragrance, and there are 750 sprays in its gorgeous glass vessel. 

With more than 4,800 five-star reviews on Amazon, I can see why this budget-friendly gem has people raving. The spray is under $10 but doesn’t skimp on luxury, thanks to a soothing scent that mixes lavender, chamomile and eucalyptus. (Think: wrapping yourself in a fresh, cozy blanket right out of the dryer.) According to one reviewer, “The fragrance is not overpowering but just strong enough to provide a pleasant and relaxing environment.” They also add: “What I love most about this pillow mist is how effectively it helps me unwind after a long day. The moment I spray it on my pillow, I can feel the tension starting to melt away. It has significantly improved the quality of my sleep, making it easier for me to drift off and enjoy a restful night.” Perfect for a quick spritz on your bed or for when your clothes need a quick refresh.  

If you’re looking to splurge, you might as well go big by investing in the brand behind Baccarat Rouge. Maison Francis Kurkdjian took a crisp, clean breeze and put it in a bottle with scent, including notes of lily of the valley, sweet mock orange and musk. And while there are no customer reviews for the linen mist, one Reddit user says the perfume (with the same scent) is worth every penny: “It's inoffensive, clean, soft, fresh and perfectly suitable for warmer weather—and I think it would even work great as an office scent. It's unisex, but can feel more feminine, especially if you're not used to wearing florals…[The] longevity is stellar, with solid projection for a fresh fragrance, especially for how soft this seems to be.”

Sticking with the theme of luxurious scents, this one was specifically designed to mimic high-end hotels. The fragrance combines calming lavender, refreshing eucalyptus and a hint of sweet vanilla—which was inspired by Westin Hotels, according to the brand. In fact, one reviewer says, “It reminds me of the [Westin] we stayed at when in Florida two years ago. The notes are fresh, with subtle hints of vanilla and an orchid mixed with beach waves.” A second person also writes, “Using it as a pillow spray makes me feel like I’m at the Westin in one of their amazing beds!” Long story short: Why spend $200 for a suite when you can have a $35 staycation with this guy at home?

Here, something that was specifically designed with essential oils to help you drift into REM sleep. The lavender, bergamot and mandarin in this scent were developed by the brand to “be sprayed in your bedroom and on your pillow to create a calming atmosphere,” and a few spritzes 15 minutes before bed is all you need to drift off. “The essential oils in this pillow mist work like magic on someone like me, who almost always finds it hard to fall asleep. Within minutes of spraying and my head hitting the pillow, I'm blissfully asleep in 10 seconds,” one reviewer raves. A second person also notes: “The fragrance is not too strong. I can even smell it on the pillows when I wake up in the morning, but the scent is calming and relaxing like at an exclusive spa.” 

Bais is Diptyque’s best-selling scent for a reason: It’s fresh and fruity with an undertone of sophistication. This has to do with its tangy, blackcurrant berry scent, where a fresh garden base blends with top notes of flowery rose. And while I haven’t had the chance to test the brand’s linen spray iteration, I can say that the diffuser has lasted me months (as in, from September to June). It’s delightfully sweet without being synthetic or sickly—and according to one reviewer, the formula is just as long-lasting on linen: “It lingers for a good time—well worth the money spent. I even let it get on my clothes when I spray it; doubles as a perfume for me.” The cherry on top? It also works as an odor diffuser, where it can eliminate unpleasant background scents up to 500 feet away. 

The only way I can describe this scent? It’s like moseying through a sun-kissed lavender field in Provence, passing by pine forests and zingy lemon verbena shrubs on the way. (And it’s as close as I’ve gotten to a French countryside getaway this summer.) The blend of lush lavender, French cade wood and lemon verbena creates an elegant mix that's somehow calming and energizing at the same time. I also love how the spray lingers on my bedding and couch pillows—and I can spray it on a linen button-down without it feeling too masculine/feminine. It’s ideal for anyone who’s looking for something unisex yet fresh. 

DedCool was first put on my radar by PureWow’s assistant editor Delia Curtis, who can’t get enough of their detergent fragrance. The brand has amassed a cult following for its super strong scents, including this number, which blends bergamot, white musk and amber—it’s the olfactory equivalent of a warm hug. “Smells better and stronger than cologne,” one reviewer writes. What’s more, many people lauded how long the scent lasts: “I use it mainly to freshen up my chair and coach but my favorite thing to do is spray it on my blankets and sheets after washing. I can still smell it days later. It is the best!” Plus, another person adds: “It’s safe for use on linen, no staining as far as I've seen.”

If you’re into more earthy, masculine scents, P.F. Candle Co.’s Teakwood & Tobacco Spray is a must-try. It’s a rich blend of leather, teak, and orange—kind of like cozying up by a crackling fire with a good book—adding a warm, inviting fragrance to your bedding and clothes. “Smooth and slightly sweet, but masculine and fresh; this works great to freshen a room, and it lasts a long time when sprayed on linens,” one reviewer writes. They also add: “Spray it on your sweatshirt (you won't be disappointed). It is not overwhelming, and it doesn't trigger a headache or my allergies.”

Finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t include Capri Blue (aka Anthro’s famous scent) at the end of this list. ICYMI, the Capri Blue Volcano candle has come to define Anthropologie’s in-store experience as shoppers are immediately lured by notes of tropical fruits, sugared oranges, lemons, limes and lightly exotic mountain greens. “It smells sweeter and softer than the typical bright, tart scent people often associate with lemons, limes and oranges, likely due to the additional tropical notes,” explains PureWow’s VP of editorial, Candace Davison, in a review. As for the linen spray, one reviewer cites: “Did not disappoint. I sprayed it on a blanket two days ago and the scent is STILL THERE!”
