At any given moment, my social feeds are flooded with tons of trends—from the stylish (hello, Amalficore) to the polarizing (our editors are split down the middle on drop waist dresses)—but one I’ve found myself gravitating towards more and more this summer is the nostalgic charm necklace. Besides reminding me of the charm bracelets I wore constantly though high school, I also love the personal touch charms offer, and the way they show off a piece of our interests to the world without getting overly personal. So, I made it my mission to find some of the best online shops where you can create your own custom necklaces suited perfectly to your own tastes and hobbies—below, you’ll find seven to shop now.

1. Mejuri

Mejuri

I’m a big fan of Mejuri jewelry—it’s stylish, well-made and super durable. Seriously, I’ve had a stud earring from the brand in my ear for *years* (without removing it when I shower, swim, or any other time) and it’s still in perfect condition, so I feel totally confident recommending these charms for a necklace that will last. Mejuri’s charms have a classic style to them, too, featuring designs like single pearl drops or sparkling birthstone or zodiac charms, so you’re sure to get tons of wear out of them since they’ll transcend the trends.

2. Rellery

Rellery

Rellery is another jewelry brand I’ve added to my daily rotation thanks to their high-quality designs. This is a great option if you’re looking for a mix of simple adds like letter and birthstone charms, along with more unique and personalized options. For something personal that would make a great gift, don’t skip the engraved bar charm, and add a few of their favorite symbols—there’s tons to pick from including everything from an airplane to a donut or coffee cup for those “always needs an iced coffee in-hand” friends.

3. Awe Inspired

Awe Inspired

Whether you’re gifting or putting together a meaningful mix for yourself, Awe Inspired, a woman-owned business that gives back with every purchase, has some truly stunning charm options with gorgeous details like mother of pearl, abalone shell and gemstones. Most are available in either gold vermeil or sterling silver, both of which are metals that will withstand the test of time, so you can feel good about investing in these slightly pricier pieces. And if you feel like splurging, don’t miss out on this charm collector set ($395) that includes necklace, bracelet and earring bases, so you can really let your creativity run wild.

4. Gorjana

Gorjana

On the more affordable side, Gorjana is a perfect pick for anyone who wants stylish pieces with a clean design that can easily be worn daily or mixed and matched with other jewelry. The California-based brand offers a variety of options including gorgeous pearl-backed letter charms, zodiac pendants and even a couple of fun picks (how irresistible is this popsicle?!). It’s worth noting that most of these charms are gold plated, though, so they’ll be less water-resistant than gold vermeil or solid gold alternatives.

5. Catbird

Catbird

Catbird was ahead of the trends when the brand launched their “The Big Little Charms Shop” back in 2019, and has since offered tons of charms made for stacking that feature everything from sparkling gemstones to limited-edition designs using sturdy metals like recycled gold. Some of the most popular picks have been this cute tiny key, pearl souvenir and diamond fizz—but I suggest checking them all out for yourself because there’s truly some gems here (um, did you catch the cannoli and this customizable library card?!)

6. Etsy—WarungBeads

WarungBeads

If you really want to get crafty with it, I highly suggest checking out Etsy for the widest variety of charms. Personally, I adore the WarungBeads shop—I’ve bought tons of charms from here over the past few years, and the gold-filled metal feels super high-quality and doesn’t ever look tarnished, even if you wear them in water. There’s so many fun designs to choose from, too, from classic picks like this glass heart locket to seasonal styles like this adorable puffed pumpkin. (Is it too early to start planning a Halloween-themed necklace?!) Oh, and most of them come in at $5 or less, with tons of premade chains available for $10 or less. Just remember to pick up a pair of jewelry pliers to attach them with (I promise this is beyond easy, coming from someone with next to no crafting skills).

7. Local Eclectic

Local Eclectic

Local Eclectic is your one-stop-shop for shopping tons of unique brands (and a wide range of price points) all at once, so the options for charm combos really are endless here. You can expect to find solid gold picks that will last a lifetime alongside plated charms that you can easily switch out as your mood or style changes. A few of my personal faves happen to be this stunning natural crystal element charm and this crystal-embedded hourglass, but don’t skip over classics like baguette-shaped birthstone charms and these chic rounds filled with gemstones like garnet, pearl, agate and more.
