It’s been seven months since Game of Thrones aired its final episode, but that doesn’t mean the HBO series is completely done with the awards show circuit (and we’re not even talking about the Globes). In fact, GoT could potentially win a highly coveted Grammy Award at the 62nd annual ceremony in 2020.
It’s all thanks to Ramin Djawadi, who is nominated for Best Visual Media Score Soundtrack for his work on Game of Thrones. Although he was recognized in the same category at the 2018 Grammy Awards, the composer lost to Justin Hurwitz for La La Land.
It’s important to point out that it won’t be easy for Djawadi to claim the statuette at the 2020 Grammy Awards, since he’s nominated against a tough crowd, including Alan Silvestri for Avengers: Endgame, Hildur Guðnadóttir for Chernobyl, Hans Zimmer for The Lion King and Marc Shaiman for Mary Poppins Returns.
Still, many believe that Djawadi deserves to be recognized with a Grammy, since he scored all eight seasons of GoT.
