These days, it seems like every time we open Instagram, we land on a super-nostalgic photo of hair barrettes. We've already bought our fair share while scrolling through our feed (and have another handful in our Amazon cart), and we know you did, too. But how can we not? These hair accessories are possibly the easiest trend ever and brings us back to the days of Britney (pre-shaved head) and all that was right in the world.

The barrettes of 2019 run the gamut from oversized to bejeweled, and we simply can't get enough. But our hair does kind of have a permanent crease at the temple where we've been wearing our favorite pin every day. To break out of that rut, here are six new ways to wear them.

RETRO HAIR ACCESSORIES ARE TRENDING. HERE'S HOW TO WEAR THEM IN 2019

Strong Side

We've never met a pin we didn't like, so we'll be wearing all of them at once, but only on one side of our part.

Get the look: Eastever ($10); Kitsch ($12); Tasha ($24)

Stacked

Alligator clips don't just hold a few strands securely in place; when combined, they can actually hold your entire braid up. Stack them one on top of the other for extra hold (and an extra-cool vibe).

Get the look: Ficcare ($38); Cult Gaia ($81); Charlotte Chesnais ($315)

Slicked Back

No matter how much gel we use, there's always a few uncooperative strands in our slicked-back look. Enter: bejeweled bobby pins to keep everything in place...and an added dose of glamour.

Get the look: Vanvene ($8); Tecunite ($8); Kitsch ($12)

Faux Headband

Why fidget with a headband, when you can clip in a semi-permanent one? Line up a few clips on both sides of your part for ultimate staying power.

Get the look: Dofash ($9); Fani ($16); Kitsch x Justine Marjan ($29)

Opposites Attract

Doubling up on barrettes is nothing new, but using them to create a pattern, like one facing inward and one outward, feels oh so fresh (and adds to the hold factor).

Get the look: Kitsch ($6); Hotop ($7); Cara ($26)

Party In The Back

We've all used clips to keep those short hairs in place on high-pony days. But this time, they're actually the center of attention thanks to lots of sparkle.

Get the look: Messen ($14); France Luxe ($22); Lelet NY ($158)
