Planning a trip to Disney World can be a stressful endeavor, especially when you start to consider the cost of theme park passes, seasonal foods and a good hotel for what should be a fun family vacation. Luckily, there are tons of hotels outside the gates of Disney World that offer cheaper rates than the official park hotels (many of which include Disney benefits and free shuttles to the parks). Whether I'm looking for a relaxing resort-style hotel or something more unique, I found 29 options for every type of traveler. Note: the starting nightly rates are accurate at time of publication, but don’t include the resort fees, which are likely to be much higher during the busier months of the year.

What to Consider When Looking for a Hotel Near Disney World
- Location: Ask yourself, how close do you want to be to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom? Choose a Disney resort, so that you're just a boat ride away from all the fun. Or, you can find a host on this list of non-Disney hotels that are just 15 to 30 minutes away by car or shuttle.
- Transportation: Speaking of shuttles, plenty of non-Disney hotels have free shuttle services to the parks like Delta Hotels, Doubletree Suits by Hilton and Hyatt House to name a few. If you don't have a rental car (and want to avoid spending a ton on Ubers), consider hotels with transportation that go to and from the park on the daily.
- Amenities: If you want to look beyond the pools and restaurants, this list includes pet-friendly picks, kids' clubs, wellness services and more to elevate your vacation beyond the parks.
- Price Point: Like the hed implies, I did research on budget- and splurge-worthy hotels, ranging from $93 to $1,290/night.
1. JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort & Spa
JW Marriott
- Getting There: 26 minutes from Orlando International Airport
- Starting Rate: from $350/night
- Why I Recommend It: multiple restaurants, wellness spa, adult-only pool, pet-friendly, mini golf, breakfast buffet
If you're looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of park days, check out this oasis located 15 minutes from Magic Kingdom. The JW Marriott resort has everything from spacious rooms, a decked out kids club and two large pools (one being an adult-only area)—plus, on-site restaurants like Illume, a rooftop Japanese restaurant where you can get spectacular views of Magic Kingdom and Epcot's firework shows. However, its the wellness services that Beauty & Cultures Editor Chelsea Candelario couldn't stop talking about. "Whether you spent the day traveling or hitting the parks, there's nothing like getting an invigorating massage, facial or body treatment afterwards. My favorite was the seasonal treatments, which I had a fall-themed cranberry pomegranate body wrap—so definitely worth checking out what's new throughout the year," she shares.
2. Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
Disney
- Getting There: 26 minutes from Orlando International Airport
- Starting Rate: from $549/night
- Why I Recommend It: kids club, breakfast buffet, free shuttle services, babysitting services, airport transportation
If you're going to pick one Disney resort hotel, let it be this one that's just two miles from Animal Kingdom (and a 15-minute drive from Disney World). However, you don't even have to visit the parks to check out over 30 species of wildlife. Grab a guide at the front desk and see real life animals, from zebras to giraffes, in specific areas of the resort. You'll also find a 11,000 square-foot pool (with waterslide) and free shuttle services to the parks. "The design is transporting, the rooms are immaculate and honestly, it will never get old to peer outside your window to see giraffes grazing or flamingos strutting nearby," shares Candace Davison, VP of Editorial at PureWow.
- Getting There: 26 minutes from Orlando International Airport
- Starting Rate: from $125/night
- Why I Recommend It: heated pool, on-site coffee shop, free shuttle services, kids club, kids stay free
As a Florida native, Davison recommends this Marriott property if you're looking for rooms under $150 *and* a sweet deal that lets kids stay for free. Other fun amentities include a kids' club, free shuttle service and a pool to refresh under the Florida sun. Davison shares, "I can say that finding a Disney-area hotel under $125/night can get questionable, fast. (I've stayed in some truly horrible spots.) So, when I'm trying to stick to a budget, I often look to the Delta Hotel. It's an older hotel, but the staff really takes care of the place, and if you're spending all day at the parks, you don't need any bells and whistles (though their breakfast buffet is pretty solid, honestly!)."
- Getting There: 33 minutes from Orlando International Airport
- Starting Rate: from $1,279/night
- Why I Recommend It: evening entertainment, free shuttle service, heated pool, kids club, wellness services
Another Disney resort worth the splurge? The iconic Grand Floridian. For Executive Managing Editor (and big time Disney fan) Catrina Yohay, this is her favorite hotel in Orlando. Now, I can go further in detail on why you should book a stay, but I'll let Yohay influence your decision. "Yes, it'll cost you an arm and a leg to stay there, but for special trips it's worth the splurge. When you first walk in, you're greeted by a stunning atrium that screams old Florida (and if you're lucky enough to go during the holidays it'll be filled with a massive Christmas tree and the famous gingerbread house)," she shares. "I also love that you're just a monorail ride away from both Magic Kingdom and Epcot. And if you happen to be skipping the parks one day, you can still watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the boat dock nearby (they even pump in the show's music so you feel like you're really there)."
5. Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center

When it comes to family-friendly luxury that won’t break the bank, Gaylord Palms Resort is pretty hard to beat. If you need more convincing, just read Davison's raving review, "Gaylord Palms has one of the coolest atriums of any hotel. Where else can you dine on a boat in 'Key West' and minutes later, tour a replica of the Castilo de San Marcos in St. Augustine, or check out baby alligators in the Everglades, all at a perpetually perfect, sunny-yet-breezy 72 degrees? The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfy, and you can have a balcony that overlooks the 4 1/2-acre atrium and gardens. It's an experience in and of itself, and that's before you count the outdoor water park and daily sunrise yoga included in the resort fee."

Frequently Asked Questions
When Is the Cheapest Month to Go to Disney?
According to my research, the cheapest month to go to Disney is January and February (minus President's Day weekend). It has everything to do with it the holiday season being over and kids going back school. It's why travel sites like PlanDisney also say mid-March through April, beginning of May and late August into September works, too. Now, it may change depending on the hotel, so just keep these times in mind when booking your next trip.
Which Disney Resort Is the Easiest to Get to Magic Kingdom?
There are plenty of Disney resorts that give you easy access to Magic Kingdom via monorail or boat ride. Some include the Contemporary Resort, Polynesian Village Resort and Grand Floridian. But if you're looking for non-Disney hotels, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort (which is owned by Marriott, FYI), Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek and more are good choices to consider next time.
