Forrest's mom was right when she said life was like a box of chocolates, and while we certainly never know what we're gonna get, we got a wonderful surprise when we found out that Tom Hanks, 66, and Robin Wright, 56, will be reuniting on screen, nearly thirty years after they starred together in Forrest Gump. Better yet, the two will be teaming up with their Oscar-winning movie's director, Robert Zemeckis, and the film's screenwriter, Eric Roth.

The quartet that worked together on Forrest Gump will now be creating a film adaptation of the graphic novel Here by Richard McGuire. As reported by Variety, Hanks and Wright will apparently be “de-aged” for the film (and we're not talking about a Benjamin Button sort of thing here).

Apparently, the crew will use “new hyperrealistic technology, including AI-generated face replacements and de-aging,” to make the two stars look younger in the film. But, there's a good reason for this. Here is an acclaimed comic that tells the story of a singular space over centuries of time. The film adaptation will show Hanks and Wright's characters throughout decades of their life, so they will need to look different ages at different points in the film.

“I’ve always been attracted to technology that helps me to tell a story,” Zemeckis told Variety. “With Here, the film simply wouldn’t work without our actors seamlessly transforming into younger versions of themselves. Metaphysic’s AI tools do exactly that, in ways that were previously impossible!”

Zemeckis will be directing the film and penning the screenplay with Roth, with Miramax producing the flick. Other stars will include Paul Bettany and Kelly Reilly.

Per Variety, the story will take place in New England, “starting as wilderness and later becoming the site of a home—against a tale of love, loss, hope, struggle and legacy.” There has been no release date announced for the film yet, but W magazine says its scheduled for a 2024 premiere.

We can't wait to see Hanks and Wright acting together again, and if Here comes anywhere close to the success of Forrest Gump, then you can bet it'll be huge.
