Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's Recent Body Language Spoke Volumes About Their Relationship, According to Expert

Swifties like myself started Googling allllll the football terms starting last September when it became clear that superstar Taylor Swift was crushing on tight end (yes, I had to Google that term) Travis Kelce. Since then, we've seen them pack on on the PDA, we've seen Tay-Tay rocking a Kansas City Chiefs jersey and we've seen Kelce appear onstage with Swift.

But as with any relationship, things change over time. So are the power couple still hot and heavy or are we starting to sense any “Bad Blood”? I asked behavioral and body language expert Darren Stanton to give me the 411 on their status based on their recent appearance together at the U.S. Open. And I was quite surprised by what he had to say.

On September 8, the couple attended the 2024 U.S. Open Tennis Championships in New York City. And according to Stanton, who spoke on behalf of Spin Genie, the outing was quite revealing.

Per Stanton, things seemed to have calmed down a bit (something to be expected as any relationship progresses). He said, “The PDA from the pair was very full on for a while, holding hands and kissing in public, but this seems to have decreased as time has gone on. [Kelce's] only really trying when [Swift's] looking. She's like a firework as usual, but it's only when she looks at him that he really engages.”

That's not to say that the PDA is gone entirely. They were photographed being touchy feely for sure. It just seems that perhaps the intense initial honeymoon phase has ended. (A-list stars, they're just like us, amirite?)

Another complicating factor for the couple? The constant media attention.

Stanton continued, “I believe [Kelce] is becoming less interested with the ‘Taylor Swift circus.’ Even though he is used to the razzmatazz of American football, he’s never experienced anything like this. It is a complete media frenzy circus when they go anywhere together, so it’s possible he is just overwhelmed with it.”

Stanton's prediction for what's to come? “I believe we will continue to see a gradual decrease in these gestures and signatures with their behavior over the coming weeks.”

Fortunately, even if the intense phase is over, it doesn't mean the magic is gone. On the contrary, it seems that the duo is as supportive of one another as ever.

Last weekend, Swift was in attendance at Kelce's game to show her support.

And per Page Six, “The Kansas City Chiefs tight end was chatting with his brother, Jason Kelce, in Wednesday’s episode of their New Heights podcast when the retired Philadelphia Eagles center began reading an ad for the [upcoming MTV Video Music Awards]. 'Hopefully Taylor can walk away with a few!' Travis, 34, chimed in.”

Kelce continued his support, “She’s nominated for about 10 of those things tonight. Hopefully, she can walk away with some Moonmen. Those are some of the cooler trophies.”

So while things may have cooled off a bit, it doesn't seem like this “love story” will be over anytime soon.
