There are several royal happenings that have made me do a double take, like when Prince William discovered his royal lookalike ancestor or when Charles Spencer shared a rare baby photo of Princess Diana. However, this Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson outfit caught my attention for all the right reasons.
Earlier this month, the 65-year-old stepped out in London to attend the British Forces Foundation's 25th Anniversary Ball. Ferguson wore a flattering black dress with white sleeves that resembled a cape.
There are two things to note about this ensemble. First, the dress may look familiar because it’s been worn by the royal before. The duchess previously sported the gown in 2019 at the Knights of Charity Gala photocall in Cannes.
And second, the dress bears a striking resemblance to one of my favorite Kate Middleton looks. The dress in question is the custom-made gown by Roland Mouret that Princess Catherine wore to the Royal Performance of Top Gun: Maverick in 2022. The dress featured a form-fitting black bodice with a white off-the-shoulder band.
At the time, the ensemble caught my attention because, once again, it was nearly identical to an outfit that Queen Máxima of the Netherlands donned in September 2017 when she attended a concert in Amsterdam. Although it was made by the same designer (Roland Mouret), Queen Máxima was wearing the jumpsuit version of the ensemble.
It’s giving déjà vu.
