‘Stranger Things’ Star Millie Bobby Brown Is About to Become a Published Author

At just 19 years old, Millie Bobby Brown already has an impressive résumé with roles on Stranger Things and Enola Holmes under her belt, not to mention a makeup line, her position as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and more. Now, it looks like she's about to add another major accomplishment to her list—becoming a published author.

The Stranger Things actress will release her debut novel, Nineteen Steps, on Sept. 12, 2023, through HarperCollins. Although the cover has not yet been revealed for the novel, the publisher offered a tantalizing synopsis, which gives us a taste of Brown's new historical fiction.

It reads: “It’s 1942, and London remains under constant threat of enemy attack as the second world war rages on. In the Bethnal Green neighborhood, Nellie Morris counts every day lucky that she emerges from the underground shelters unharmed, her loving family still surrounding her...But after a chance encounter with Ray, an American airman stationed nearby, Nellie becomes enchanted with the idea of a broader world.”

HarperCollins adds: “Nineteen Steps is a deeply affecting, mesmerizing page-turner inspired by the author’s family history. An epic story of longing, loss, and secrets, Millie Bobby Brown’s propulsive debut introduces an unforgettable, brave young woman and boldly portrays the strength in the power of love.”

Brown also excitedly shared her big news to social media with a clip of herself making the announcement, which she captioned, “I’m thrilled to be announcing my debut novel, Nineteen Step...Writing Nineteen Steps has been a really special project for me. The story is inspired by true events and my own family history. I really hope you will find the true spirit of love and strength in Nineteen Steps, and I can’t wait to share it with you. It's available to pre-order now.”

Last year, saw the release of Stranger Things 4, which broke numerous Netflix records and was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at the Primetime Emmy Awards. In the same year, Brown also starred in Enola Holmes 2, the sequel to her Sherlock Holmes-inspired mystery film. In 2023, the actress will star in a fantasy movie titled Damsel alongside Nick Robinson, Angela Bassett and Robin Wright.
