Who Is Lady Kitty Spencer? 9 Fascinating Facts About Princess Diana’s Niece

Lady Kitty Spencer made waves at Prince Harry’s wedding, topping multiple best-dressed lists and almost stealing the spotlight away from the bride. However, she’s kept a low profile ever since she tied the knot with Michael Lewis at the Villa Aldobrandini country mansion in Frascati, Italy.

Here’s everything you need to know about the British aristocrat.

1. She’s First Cousins with Prince William and Prince Harry

Lady Kitty Spencer is the oldest of four children that Princess Diana’s brother Charles Spencer, the Ninth Earl Spencer, had with former model Victoria Lockwood. She attended cousin William’s wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011 and also scored an invite to Prince Harry’s royal nuptials (we’re not jealous at all), where she donned a flawless Dolce & Gabbana green dress.

2. She Was Born in London But Grew Up in Cape Town

After Princess Diana and Prince Charles divorced, Spencer’s parents decided to move their family to South Africa in order to escape the media frenzy. Here, she studied psychology, politics and English at the University of Cape Town before enjoying la dolce vita studying art history in Italy. She also received a master’s degree in luxury brand management from London’s Regent University. (Smarty-pants.)

3. She’s a Model

Spencer’s modeling career started when she was on the cover of Harper & Queen (now Harper’s Bazaar UK) with her mom in 1992 at the age of one. Now she’s represented by Storm Model Management (who have repped the likes of Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn), has walked the runway for Dolce & Gabbana (one of her favorite designers) and is a brand ambassador for luxury Italian jewelry brand Bulgari. Not too shabby.

4. And She's a Fashionista

Taking a note from Princess Di’s book, the aristocrat knows how to have fun with fashion and has been making a name for herself in the fashion world for years. When it comes to her own personal style, Lady S told Vanity Fair that she is inspired by the Mad Men fashion era, favoring a classic and feminine look. Duly noted.

5. She’s Also a Foodie

Proving that she’s a girl after our own heart, the model told Harper’s Bazaar UK that truffle pizza became her “ultimate guilty pleasure” when she studied abroad in Florence. We approve.

6. She's a Big Philanthropist

Like her late aunt, Spencer is passionate about helping those less fortunate. She is an ambassador for Centrepoint, a charity that supports homeless youth, and a trustee and patron for the military charity Give Us Time, which helps soldiers go on vacation with their families. She’s also raised money for Save the Children and the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

7. She Loves Cats

Spencer is the proud mom of Baby D, her “little lion cub” named after her brother Louis’s childhood habit of calling animals “D’s.” But this is no ordinary kitty kat—Baby D has graced the pages of Tatler. (And you thought your dog’s 37 followers on Instagram were impressive.)

8. Her Instagram Will Give You Major Wanderlust

Although she currently lives in London, Spencer is quite the globe-trotter and documents many of her fabulous trips (Lake Como one week, Montenegro the next) on Instagram. Yep, we wouldn’t mind trading places with her for a day.

9. She Had 5 Dresses Made For Her Wedding

Yes, you read that right. When Lady Kitty Spencer married Lewis, she enlisted Dolce & Gabbana to design five—we repeat, five—different outfits. The designer released a video on Instagram, which offered a rare glimpse at the high neckline wedding gown, along with a baby blue dress, a green and white frock, a multicolored gown and a gold and silver studded ensemble.
