What a week for the royal fam

To say that's it's been a busy few weeks for the British royal family would be the ultimate understatement. From Kate Middleton's return to the public eye to Princess Anne's health scare, royal fans (and royal reporters such as myself) have been faced with a head-spinning amount of royal news. And now, the spinning of the heads continues...

Last night, Buckingham Palace released a new portrait of King Charles in full military regalia. The royal fam posted the image of the monarch on social media in honor of Armed Forces Day. The photo was taken back in November of 2023.

In the image, the monarch is holding a sword and donning plenty of medals and decorations. Part of the Instagram caption reads, "A new portrait of The King has been released to mark Armed Forces Day. His Majesty is Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Services."

The photo was released mere days after King Charles took part in the Trooping the Colour events in honor of his birthday. For the Trooping events, Charles was joined by his wife, son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and more. He then proceeded to take part in Royal Ascot events before welcoming the Emperor and Empress of Japan for a State Dinner. (Hopefully the monarch is taking a break sometime soon...)

Though Charles has been quite busy as of late, as I mentioned earlier, a lot of focus has been on other members of the royal fam this week, such as Princess Anne. The sister of the monarch was hospitalized for several days after sustaining "minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate," per a statement from Buckingham Palace. (She has since returned home and is doing "fine," according to her husband.)
