King Charles is opening up about how he’s doing— and it appears to be good news.

Though His Majesty is still on his summer break, he took a brief hiatus to travel to Southport, England, to meet local residents as well as the survivors and families of the victims of the terrible tragedy that occurred in the town on July 29 when three girls were killed during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class from a stabbing attack.

The king appeared in good spirits as he interacted with members of the community in addition to first responders and community leaders. In a photo below, the royal can be seen smiling and shaking the hand of a young royal admirer, who is standing behind a metal fence.

According to Express, the 75-year-old monarch was asked by a well-wisher how he’s been doing amidst his cancer treatment. Per the outlet, he responded, “I’m not too bad.” We’re relieved to hear it.

Earlier this year, Buckingham Palace announced that the king has been diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer. In a statement, the team noted that it’s a “separate issue” from his enlarged prostate, which he sought treatment for back in January.

“During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer,” the palace wrote.

During this time, all of the king’s public engagements were postponed until further notice. “His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” the statement continued. “Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”

The king made his official return to royal duties in April. Alongside his wife, Queen Camilla, the couple visited the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre. While there, the king personally met and conversed with doctors and staff workers at the facility.

Glad to hear you’re doing well, King Charles.
