Katie Holmes just stepped out with a brand-new hairdo that made us do a double take.
This week, the actress appeared on an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she recalled booking The Ice Storm at age 17. Holmes opted against her signature hairstyle and wore a sleek ponytail that deserves an honorable mention.
Upon closer inspection, it’s clear that Holmes’s hair was first styled in a half-up, half down ponytail. Then, it was secured in a second ponytail by the nape of her neck. Her hairstylist wrapped wire around the ponytail to create a braid-like structure.
This hairstyle is very different from ones Holmes has sported in the past. In fact, she was seen with a much different hairdo just last week. At the time, the actress was photographed in New York City with her signature hairstyle, which included bouncy waves that fell below her shoulders.
So, what gives? Well, there’s good chance that Holmes wore extensions during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. (Because there’s no way her hair grew several inches over the course of a week.) Due to the braid-like ponytail, it’s hard to tell which hair is Holmes’s—and which is not.
