Katie Holmes is sharing rare details about her daughter, Suri, who is now 16 years old.
The Dawson’s Creek actress, 44, recently appeared on the cover of Glamour’s April issue. During a candid interview with the publication, Holmes discussed her close-knit relationship with her teenage daughter and revealed that her number one priority is sheltering Suri.
“What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her,” she said. “I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person.”
Holmes also discussed Suri’s off-screen involvement with her films, like Alone Together and Rare Objects. Although the teen recorded songs for both movies, Holmes explained that it was a “safe” environment.
“I hope she always does something on my films. I always ask her,” Holmes said. “But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people. And it’s this safe, beautiful, creative space. So, it comes out of love for me to include someone who I love dearly.”
The actress added, “That’s how I like to work. I like to have that kind of feeling. It was very meaningful to me to have her there because she’s my heart.”
Holmes shares Suri with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise. The actress currently resides with Suri in New York, where they are often spotted by paparazzi. As for Holmes’s love life, she is known for keeping her relationships out of the public eye. She recently had a fling with Bobby Wooten III, but they called it quits in 2022.
