Kate Middleton’s Mom Carole Has Shoe Trouble at Royal Event—But Son-in-Law Prince William Comes to the Rescue

The royal family also released a gorgeous photograph of the prince looking stoic among a sea of event guests—and royal fans on social media couldn’t help but comment that he looked quite like his mother, the late Princess Diana. “Looks like Diana in this photo!” one commenter pointed out.

The horse racing event is taking place just days after the royal family appeared at Trooping the Colour in honor of King Charles’s birthday. The biggest news to come out of Trooping (overshadowing Louis’s funny faces and Charlotte’s cute wave)? It had to be the return of Kate Middleton to the public eye. Her appearance was a much-cherished one for royal fans, especially considering she may not be seen again for quite some time as she undergoes treatment for cancer.

It’s nice to see Prince William taking such good care of his in-law’s during his wife’s absence. But this is also a PSA to Carole: when grass is involved, wear wedges, not heels.
