If you’ve been on the Prince and Princess of Wales’s Instagram page as of late, then you’ll probably notice that a red warning banner has been added to the edited family photo of Kate Middleton with her three children. So, what does it mean?
Due to the Associated Press and multiple news outlets issuing a “kill notice” on the photo (released by Kensington Palace on Sunday), other publications have started pulling the doctored picture from their platforms. AP stated that they retracted the photo because “the image appeared to have been manipulated.” The news agency added, “AP’s editorial standards state that images must be accurate. AP does not use altered or digitally manipulated images.”
And now, it appears that Instagram has issued a disclaimer of their own. At the bottom of the photo, there is a caution sign along with a warning written in red letters, which says, “Missing context. The same altered photo was reviewed by independent fact-checkers in another post.”
