Remember in early 2024, when the Emmy Awards made a major red carpet mistake? The Television Academy corrected the mishap later that year, when the carpet was blessedly red again. And now, it seems the Golden Globes has learned from this major Emmys mistake.

Tonight, Hollywood’s biggest stars gathered in Beverly Hills for the 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards. In a smart move, the designers opted for a stunning red carpet background that complemented the stars’ looks (and didn’t take away from them).

The backdrop was covered in floor-to-ceiling florals, and it was set in a neutral color scheme with pops of light pink. The panels were situated between greenery walls that added dimension and variation to the photos.

Perhaps the Golden Globes learned from the Television Academy’s mistake during the 75th annual Emmy Awards. At the time, the backdrop was extremely busy, featuring “Fox” and “Emmys” written in white and gold, respectively, against a black background.

Fans were quick to point out that it was quite distracting and, admittedly, was taking away from the stars who were posing on the carpet. To make matters worse, the Television Academy opted for a gray carpet (instead of red). It didn’t even look like a carpet—in fact, it almost looked like the celebs were posing on a concrete floor.

Of course, the Television Academy corrected its mistake for the 76th annual Emmy Awards, which included a crimson carpet and a blessedly pared-down backdrop.

Now that the mistake has been rectified, I can finally enjoy the gorgeous red carpet fashion in peace.
