Move over, Frozen. Disney's latest musical sensation is Encanto, an animated film filled with songs adored by parents and kids alike, while also winning over viewers for its powerful, female-led cast of characters. However, in this story about a family blessed with magical powers and one girl's journey to preserve that magic, there is one character that is quickly becoming a fan favorite: Luisa.
In Encanto, Luisa is the middle child of the Madrigal family, and while she is gifted with superhuman strength, she struggles with the fear that she will disappoint her family. The inspiring character played by Jessica Darrow has become highly popular among Encanto fans, and as Distractify points out, these viewers are on the hunt for Luisa merchandise.
HITC reported that Luisa merch is outselling that of other characters, like Isabella, and CNN theorizes that this is because young viewers can relate to the middle child's struggle with anxiety. Therapist Jenny Lemus told the site that Luisa's character “describes what anxiety feels like perfectly,” especially for many first-generation Latinos.
