Meet the Minimalist Mani Trend That Will Be Everywhere This Spring

What has the allure of nail art, but is slightly more low-key? That would be cuticle art. A minimalist swipe of polish that hugs your nail bed. It’s both polished and fun, without being too loud.

Even better, it’s simple enough to DIY at home: Start with a clean base coat or neutral polish, then use a skinny nail brush in a tiny amount of colored polish and trace the edge of your cuticle. Voilà, art.

Get ready to see statement cuticles more and more—we predict it will be spring’s next mani trend.

Neon

Here, L.A.-based nail artist Betina Goldstein used a neon blue hue for an eye-catching accent that’s still subtle enough.

Glitter

If you don’t want to commit to a full glitter nail (we don’t blame you), a skinny stripe has the same sparkly effect minus the hassle of removal.

Reverse French

While most of these designs start with a bare nail, you could opt for a neutral base if you can’t stand to go totally, um, naked. This Olive & June version is like the French manicure’s cool cousin from the city—and it’s minimal enough to wear to work.
