The days are short, the nights are long and there’s still snow on the ground. But on the bright side, Girl Scout cookie season has officially begun. That means you can order all your favorites (looking at you, Thin Mints) now for future noshing. But before you stock up on your usual Tagalongs and Samoas, consider this: Two varieties are being discontinued after 2025. As a food editor who’s tasted them, I’d recommend getting your hands on these underrated flavors while you still can.

This is your last chance to sink your teeth into Girl Scout S’mores and Toast-Yay! cookies. The former is one that I was a big fan of as a kid. As an adult who hadn’t tried them in years, I was oddly endeared by the artificial marshmallow aroma that coaxed my senses the moment I opened the package.

I remembered the sandwich cookies being bigger, but hey—my hands were probably smaller back then. Anyway, I loved how generous the layers of chocolate and marshmallow fillings were. Although I wish the cookie was a bit more graham cracker-like and salty, this pick brings back plenty of positive, summery memories.

As for the Toast-Yay! cookies, this was my first time tasting them. Their bottoms are coated in creamy white icing, while the cookies are meant to taste like French toast. Personally, I think they nailed it. The cookies have notes of salted butter and pancake syrup, plus a shortbread-like texture that will have you subconsciously reaching for seconds. I wish I’d known about these sooner, because I definitely would’ve made room in my cart in years past.

That said, I’ll still be snacking on timeless favorites, like Lemonades and Trefoils, too. Rumor has it that prices have gone up to $7 a box in some areas this year, but this annual delicacy is always worth the splurge, IMO.
