Don’t @ me if I say, “It’s Taylor Swift’s world and we’re just living in it.” From The Tortured Poets Department to the record-breaking Eras Tour and her lovely romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, her every move is a major headline. As a gentle Swiftie, I admit I’m mostly here for the fashion (and the music). So when I spotted the incredibly chic outfit she wore while on holiday with Kelce in Lake Como, I was immediately smitten. As a ballet flat enthusiast (this shoe is part of my go-to uniform), it was Swift’s dainty, but still grown-up, Versace Gianni Mary Janes ($925) that grabbed my attention. They’re chic, timeless and begging for a spot in my closet (and yours) immediately. But if you, like me, aren’t willing to pony up nearly $1,000 for the gleaming patent-leather ballet flats, fear not. Below, I’ve rounded up three lookalikes that nail the aesthetic at a fraction of the price.

OK, so maybe you want the exact pair yourself. (Who can blame you?) Swift wears the black patent, Italian-made Mary Janes, which have a 0.75-inch heel and a square toe box not unlike a real pointe shoe. The twist? The toe is slightly open, so they even provide some ventilation. The strap’s matching patent bow is fastened with the brand’s signature silver Medusa emblem. The shoes are also available in white and a satin pink English rose (which you can find at Nordstrom).
The Affordable Alternatives...
When I first saw the photos of Swift, my mind immediately went to Larroudé’s Blair Mary Jane ballet pumps in black patent. I had recently tested them for a guide to comfortable wedding guest shoes, and can attest that as far as patent leather shoes go, they’re on the more supportive, walkable side. While the 1.9-inch heel is taller than that on the Versace rendition, it adds a nice height boost for gals who are not approaching 6 feet like the statuesque singer.
Patent leather can lean formal, so if you’re looking for something more casual, PureWow fashion editor Abby Hepworth recommends Everlane’s Mary Janes, having worn them over several months to see if they lived up to their *reputation* (I’m sorry). The verdict: “These flats absolutely live up to the hype. I get blisters super easily, but was able to wear these beauties right out of the box with no rubbing or irritation. On a particularly warm, humid day I did find that the strap rubbed a bit, but a little dab of Vaseline fixed it right away. The leather is buttery soft, truly a dream to wear. And the elastic strap is neither so tight it leaves a mark on my foot, nor so loose that it sticks up—it sits solidly in place, offering support and style.” I think Swift would approve.
Any of my fellow PureWow editors will tell you that I am obsessed with Margaux flats. I’ve recommended them countless times for so many articles because they’re easy on the feet while instantly dressing up any outfit. I find The Demi Jane a suitable compromise between the formality of Versace’s patent leather model and the relaxed look of Everlane’s The Day Mary Jane. It takes the brand’s classic Demi ballet flat and adds a delicate strap with a gold hardware buckle that, as a bonus, makes them easily adjustable. They’re available in four solid colors, along with two mesh and two woven designs.
