Anthropologie

  • What We Don't Like: oversize fit may feel shapeless for some buyers
  • Material: cotton
  • Size range: XXS to XL

This crisp white long-sleeve shirt dress is a PureWow reader fave for many reasons. For instance, it’s incredibly chic and oh-so easy to wear thanks to that traditional collar and breathable cotton fabric. It also features a button-up closure that can be worn fastened with your favorite belt for a tailored silhouette or undone. To make it fall-appropriate, we suggest throwing a cozy sweater over your shoulders and voilà, you have a casual-meets-sophisticated look. According to one reviewer, “This dress definitely makes a statement! It fits a little bit oversized, but that was the look I was going for. Very bold and dramatic, but comfortable. Perfect for those days when you don't want something super tight but want to look put together.” Readers also appreciate the fact that it’s a breeze to care for, so forget the dry-cleaning bill because this beauty can go with your weekly load in the machine wash. Oh, and did we mention that it comes in nine additional colorways and three fits (standard, petite and plus), too?

Best Floral Long-Sleeve Dress

2. Amazon Blencot Floral Evening Dress

Blencot

  • What We Like: empire waist, floral pattern, multiple colorways, true-to-size, flattering on big boobs, slip lining underneath
  • What We Don't Like: sheer from the knee down
  • Material: polyester
  • Size range: S to XL

With nearly 2,000 five-star reviews on Amazon, this maxi dress is a fall staple in any wardrobe. Whether you’re looking for a roomy frock that’ll remain comfortable as you go for seconds on that vanilla cream cake at your brother’s wedding or you’re in search of a beautiful maxi that’s maternity-approved, you might want to consider this floral number. The gown has a dramatic empire waist that cinches the highest part of your waist and can suit just about any occasion—a baby shower, wedding, date night, you name it. One shopper raves, “I really didn't know what to expect when I ordered this dress, but am I ever so happy I did! The sleeves cover my knuckles giving it a very graceful look. I am small on the bottom but inherited a big bust from the family gene pool (38G), so I ordered a large and it fit perfect...showing just enough cleavage to look classy and not trashy.” Like the satisfied Amazon reviewer, we can’t get over the billowy, long sleeves on this bohemian style dress. Other shoppers were pleasantly surprised to find a knee-length slip underneath, though some voiced they would prefer if it was full-length instead. Now we’ll let you get to the hard part…deciding which of the 26 colors or patterns you want to purchase in addition to this pink and red stunner.

Best Long-Sleeve Sweater Dress

3. Quince Eco-Knit Ribbed Sweater Dress

Quince

  • What We Like: ribbed, eco-knit, slimming, transparent pricing, pill-resistant, stretchy, mock-neck, thigh-high slit
  • What We Don't Like: sleeves may run slightly long on shorter women
  • Material: lenzing ecovero, polyester, nylon
  • Size range: XS to XL

Let’s face it, your seasonal wardrobe wouldn’t be complete without a ribbed sweater dress like this one from Quince that’s slimming and hugs your curves. Known for practicing transparent pricing, Quince doesn’t cut corners on any aspect of the brand’s clothing production, and the company goes as far as to break down all expenses for every garment listed on their site which factors into the price point, from the materials to packaging to freight and handling. So, what traditionally would cost at least $118 at another retail brand is instead $60. What’s more, you’re receiving a pill-resistant, stretchy mock-neck dress that has a sexy, tasteful thigh-high slit and is made with high-recovery materials that have been “…optimized to drastically reduce the environmental impact,” per the brand. “This dress is exactly what I expected and wanted,” says one buyer. “The neutral beige is lovely. I'm usually a size small (two or four), 5'7” and [most] sleeves are usually too short on me, but this dress is perfect! (But for others the sleeves may be a bit long.)”

Best Printed Maxi Dress

4. H&M Tie-Neck Maxi Dress

H&M

  • What We Like: vibrant print, autumnal hues, loose fit, flattering pintucks, collar ties, V-neck
  • What We Don't Like: may run long on shorter women
  • Material: rayon, polyester
  • Size range: XS to XXL

Just because the peak of summer is behind us doesn’t mean we need to store away our vibrant frocks until the next smoldering season. We’re making way for options that embrace autumnal hues like beiges, mustard yellows, purples and grays—aka, this dreamy long-sleeve maxi dress from H&M. It’s a seamless transitional option suitable as we make our way into the chillier months. It has a loose, kaftan-like fit with a section of subtle pintucks along the waist that provides some shape to flatter the smallest part of your frame. And the two collar ties at the front can be tied together for a more secure fit or draped undone to reveal the V-neck underneath. Plus, those long raglan balloon sleeves will certainly keep you warm. One thing to note: The dress fits like a true maxi on a 5’10” model, so we anticipate a trip to the tailor if you’re short.

Best Long-Sleeve Wrap Dress

5. Abercrombie & Fitch Wrap Midi Sweater Dress

Abercrombie & Fitch

  • What We Like: sweater material, wrap-front bodice, functional waist ties, V-neck, side-slit
  • What We Don't Like: wrap front bodice is not adjustable
  • Material: viscose, polyester, nylon
  • Size range: XXS to XL

Another staple? That’d be a wrap sweater long-sleeve dress, of course. And this one from Abercrombie & Fitch takes the cake. It’s made from a seemingly durable, long-lasting and thick poly-viscose blend that’s easy to care for, and thanks to that ribbed detailing, it’s extremely flattering. In fact, it features a wrap front bodice with additional strings along the waist that are completely functional, so you can tie it to your liking either in the front of the dress (as pictured above) or at the back. It also has a V-neck that elegantly frames the décolletage and a side-slit detail along the side of the dress that’s sexy without running the risk of being risqué. Whether you opt for the cream, black or brown option, it’s something you can toss on when you don’t want to leave the comfort of your sweats, but you need to look put-together.

Best Long-Sleeve Mini Shirt Dress

6. ASOS Design Boyfriend Shirt Mini Dress

ASOS

  • What We Like: trending color, relaxed fit, voluminous sleeves, buttoned cuffs, high-low cut
  • What We Don't Like: may catch a breeze easily and fly up
  • Material: polyester, cotton
  • Size range: 0 to 14

Sensing a theme here? We know PureWow readers adore a shirt dress, and we found the most idyllic mini option in a luxe brown—a shade that just so happens to be one of the hottest fall trends of 2023. Made to fit like boxy ‘boyfriend’ shirt, you can expect this to be extra billowy and voluminous in the body and especially in the sleeves, which are true blouson sleeves that taper at the buttoned cuffs. Think: that iconic Carrie Bradshaw outfit in which she turned her ex’s wardrobe into a fashion statement…but make it autumnal. (Not to mention this option doesn’t require any involvement with the ex.) According to our findings, the back of the dress sits slightly longer than the front, ensuring enough length and coverage. Slink on some semi-sheer tights and slip on knee-high boots or ballet flats for the chicest fall fit.

Best Long-Sleeve Wedding Guest Dress

7. Lovers and Friends Sundance Maxi Dress

Lovers and Friends

  • What We Like: seasonless, versatile, comfortable material, slimming, plunge neckline, connected slit, hides lumps and bumps
  • What We Don't Like: may need to use pasties, adhesive bra or fashion tape to feel secure
  • Material: rayon, elastane
  • Size range: XXS to XL

If you’re in search of a gorgeous dress for an upcoming wedding, allow us to introduce you to this jersey knit maxi from Lovers and Friends. The material is not too thick and not too thin, according to reviews, making it a versatile piece to wear come any season. The neckline has a deep plunge that’s sexy without teetering too revealing or scandalous for an event. “This is the perfect dress,” confirms one shopper. “The slit connects so it won't flash your bits, but it shows just enough leg. The material is sort of a heavy jersey material, so it sits perfectly. I have no issues with the knot at all. It is super slinky and comfortable and does the job!” Others were quick to agree, even noting that it hides lumps and bumps well thanks to that slimming jersey fabric.

Best Long-Sleeve Plaid Dress

8. Lulus Delightfully Darling Mini Dress

Lulus

  • What We Like: lightweight, lined, drawstring waist, suitable for most cup sizes, button-front closure
  • What We Don't Like: no stretch in fabric
  • Material: polyester
  • Size range: XS to XL

Whether you’re headed to a football watch party or attending a Thanksgiving potluck with your friends, having a flirty, feminine plaid dress hanging in your closet is always a good idea. This one from Lulus is made using a woven chiffon that has no stretch but is incredibly lightweight, so you can expect for that frilly flounce trim at the hem to sashay and move with ease. And unlike your lived-in flannel shirt you just wear around the house, this dress is constructed with becoming details, like a cinched drawstring waist, balloon sleeves and notched neckline. Speaking of neckline, this dress is purportedly great for any cup size, and it has a button-front closure at the bodice that’ll provide more (or less) support for the girls. Oh, and did we mention that it’s lined, too? That means you won’t have to worry about this being see-through.

Best Long-Sleeve Turtleneck Dress

9. Pomander Place Noir Vivianne Dress

Pomander Place

  • What We Like: turtleneck, boxy fit, shimmery fabric, multiple colorways, comfortable
  • What We Don't Like: may run short for taller women
  • Material: rayon, polyester, nylon
  • Size range: XS to XXL

Why choose between a black, hazelwood or white when you can have all three colorways in this chic Pomander Place number from Tuckernuck. The neutral hazelwood made the top ten items in our recent roundup of fall dresses under $150, and PureWow readers went berserk over it. In fact, that color is completely sold out online, but fret not because there are still plenty of sizes available in this staple black and the dreamy white. (Though we suggest you hurry up and snag yours before you make it sell out again!) And let’s face it, turtlenecks for fall are priceless, especially when they look like this dress that has a boxy silhouette and mini fit that displays your legs for days. One customer who purchased her usual size writes, “I love this for an easy, classic look. It's a thick material [that is] so perfect in the winter and it has a really pretty sheen to it. It's super comfortable and although there's not a lot of shape, it's very figure flattering. It is a little on the shorter side—and I'm pretty average in height—so taller girls be mindful if that matters to you.” Fellow reviews highlighted buyers’ surprise towards the charming and subtle shimmer in the fabric, making it a chic, casual and elegant option.

Best Long-Sleeve Red Dress

10. Reformation Lysander Dress

Reformation

  • What We Like: trending color, crew neckline, autumnal print
  • What We Don't Like: shorter women might need to get it tailored
  • Material: viscose
  • Size range: 0 to 12

ICYMI, red is red-hot this fall season, as celebrity stylist Conroy attests. The Lysander dress from Reformation is a great way to marry the autumnal look with the bold color by displaying it throughout the material as a fall foliage print. It has a classic crew neckline and sleek, A-line silhouette that’s fitted at the bodice and relaxed at the skirt. It’s such a classy dress to wear (and re-wear) for all the events in your life, from a wedding to a baby shower to an anniversary dinner with your partner. While it looks like a true midi length on the model above, who stands 5’9”, we suspect this to be a maxi on shorter women. If you’re not thrilled about the fit or length for any reason, Reformation offers free alterations on all garments.

Best Long-Sleeve Belted Dress

11. Zara Belted Midi Shirt Dress

Zara

  • What We Like: belted, side patch pocket, elastic waistband
  • What We Don't Like: only one color option
  • Material: polyester, elastane
  • Size range: XS to XXL

Another PureWow reader favorite? None other than a Zara belted shirt dress. But while the original frock that stole your hearts is a touch summary for the fall and winter months and nearly sold out, this belted dress is perfect for the coming seasons. Shirt dresses are all about ease of wear, and this midi number masters that while looking timeless and chic along the way. It has a classic lapel collar and side patch pocket detail on the side of the sleeve. Plus, underneath that gold asymmetrical buckle is an elastic waistband that enhances the tapered look you get from this dress at the smallest part of your frame. Wear some comfortable sneakers while you run errands in style or slip on a boot to spiff it up for a GNO.

Best Long-Sleeve Athleisure Dress

12. lululemon Ribbed Long-Sleeve Dress

lululemon

  • What We Like: versatile, sweat-wicking, quick-drying, stretchy, soft
  • What We Don't Like: doesn’t contain any compression
  • Material: nylon, lycra, elastane
  • Size range: 0 to 14

We know what you’re thinking: Is that an athleisure dress or is that a casual knit we can wear to work? What if we told you that it can act as both? That’s right, this sweat-wicking dress from lululemon was designed for an on-the-go lifestyle, meaning it can withstand lots of movement and is great for those with a hectic schedule. To simply put it, this can get you from the locker room to your board meeting to happy hour drinks at six. Not only can its fabric fend off sweat, but it also has quick-drying properties. And let’s not even mention the stretch on this baby. Since we already did, we’ll just add that it can retain its shape unbelievable well, per the brand, and the inside of the dress is made to feel like a second skin while the outside has a soft, rib-like texture. So, what’ll it be? Espresso brown, classic black, cloud-like white or a forest green?

Best Long-Sleeve Tiered Dress

13. Chelsea28 Split Long Sleeve Tiered Dress

Chelsea28

  • What We Like: tiered, split sleeves, modest, easily washable, tapered waist, V-neck, functional pockets
  • What We Don't Like: non-stretch fabric may not give or feel as comfortable
  • Material: polyester
  • Size range: XXS to XL

This tiered Chelsea 28 dress nearly stopped us in our tracks once we saw the split long sleeves, which are designed to spill open and show off a sliver of bare skin as you bend and move your arms. It’s wildly complementary to its modest, full-length. The dress is made from a non-stretch polyester that’s machine wash-friendly—psst…that means it won’t shrink in wash like your 100 percent cotton goods. And it has a tiered long skirt with plenty of flowy movement just below the fabricated belt-like waist that cinches you in. Above that, you’ll find the dress has an elegant V-neck that draws the eye upwards and still offers plenty of coverage for those with bigger boobs. It’s fully lined, so it’ll provide extra coverage and more warmth everywhere except for the sleeves. Want to know the best detail about this dress? It has functional pockets at the waist that can keep your hands toasty if you get chilly or hide your key, credit card or phone when it’s time to take pictures.

Best Long-Sleeve Ribbed Dress

14. Everlane The Ribbed Scoop Neck Dress

Everlane

  • What We Like: made from recycled materials, soft, ribbed, weighty, fit-and-flare, versatile
  • What We Don't Like: might be too heavy to travel with
  • Material: viscose, recycled nylon
  • Size range: XXS to XL

Want the scoop (pun intended) on your next scoop-neck dress? Well, it’s from Everlane and is made from viscose and recycled nylon that’s soft against your skin and has a nice weight to it that gives it a luxurious and expensive feel. Plus, it’ll have a nice stretch and give to it since the fabric is ribbed, not to mention it’s made to have a slightly fitted silhouette that tapers at the waist and flares at the skirt. All this to say, this Everlane number will feel so comfortable and cozy, you won’t want to take it off. If you’re anything like us, this is the go-to dress you’ve been waiting for to wear around the house, to the grocery store, out shopping or at dinner. And thanks to that swooping neckline, you can easily stack your favorite necklaces from your jewelry collection or leave your décolletage au natural if you please. We’re obsessed with the burnt sugar color for fall, but it also comes in black and dark olive that’ll feel appropriate as it gets cooler.

Best Long-Sleeve Tunic Dress

15. Amoretu Women’s Tunic Dress

Amoretu

  • What We Like: best-seller, hides lumps and bumps, lightweight, comfortable, multiple color options, versatile
  • What We Don't Like: buyers report that it runs tight in the chest for bigger boobs
  • Material: dacron
  • Size range: S to XXL

This bohemian burgundy tunic dress has over 30,000 five-star reviews and is the number one best-seller in women’s casual dresses on Amazon. Majority of the comments rave about its relaxed, loose shape that hides a pooch or bloat well, and it’s especially loved by expecting mamas who need the extra room—and comfort. It’s made of a lightweight dacron, which is a polyester fabric that’s durable, has little stretch and is known to be tear-resistant. Buyers note that the fabric is next-level comfortable and lightweight enough to wear through all the seasons, including winter if you add tights, boots and a warm jacket. If the V-neck, tiered design and lantern sleeves weren’t enough to make you swoon, the million-and-one ways you can style it should do the trick. (Or the fact that it comes in 42 colors.) One happy customer writes, “[It’s] very comfortable [and] moves with your body. I bought several colors of this brand. I used it to take my college graduation pictures in [and] I received so many compliments in this dress.” TLDR? Never underestimate the power of a plain, casual tunic dress.

Best Long-Sleeve Midi Dress

16. Mango Satin Dress with Knot

Mango

  • What We Like: rich color, satin fabric, elegant silhouette, deep plunge, flattering design
  • What We Don't Like: material will show sweat stains easily
  • Material: polyester
  • Size range: 0 to 20

A satin dress is an excellent choice come wedding season, and this long-sleeve dress is no exception. It comes in a luxurious emerald green that’ll look great with metallic or your trusty neutral accessories. We also appreciate that this dress oozes elegance and classiness, and still manages to deliver the right amount of sex appeal, thanks to that deep plunge. The fabric concentrates into a gathered knot at the end of the plunge, creating an illusion of a slimmer waist and hiding any insecurities you may have around the tummy area. While it’s not the best option to wear if you run hot—as the satin material will show sweat stains easily—it is, however, a beautiful option otherwise.

Best Long-Sleeve Smock Dress

17. Hill House The Norah Nap Dress

Hill House

  • What We Like: floral motif, elastic smock, crinkly texture, flattering on big boobs
  • What We Don't Like: lightweight material may get cold
  • Material: recycled polyester
  • Size range: XXS to XXL

For anyone who’s been dreading the moment they need to store away their summer nap dresses, this mini long-sleeve version from Hill House has got you covered. It’s nearly identical to your summer frock, but it has a sweet, floral motif that’s autumnal-approved and was “inspired by a vintage Parisian silk fabric from the Design Library’s archives,” according to the brand. And it has all the features of a top-notch nap dress, like the elasticated smocking and crinkly texture. Not to mention it has a square neckline that’ll suit almost every body shape, but especially women with big boobs. Our only qualm with it? It’s made of a crushed taffeta that is lightweight in nature, so this may not be your dress if you want something a bit more insulated and warmer.

Best Long-Sleeve Shapewear Dress

18. SKIMS Soft Lounge Long Sleeve Dress

SKIMS

  • What We Like: shapewear-slimming properties, figure-hugging, comfortable, stretchy, not see-through, can be worn two ways
  • What We Don't Like: some reviews say it doesn’t fit as well on people with flatter chests
  • Material: modal, spandex
  • Size range: XXS to 4X

Remember that Skims dress that went viral back in 2021, garnering over 500 million searches on TikTok alone? Well, you can get all the benefits of the original, including the shapewear-slimming properties, figure-hugging material and high-quality comfort in the long-sleeve version. The slinky slip-like dress comes in black, heather gray and an off-white marble that has a sleek and tight comfortable fit. In fact, the ribbed fabric’s stretch and give is one of the biggest selling points for customers. One SKIMS buyer noticed the fabric was high-quality, not see-through and extremely flattering on her figure. “Great dress…[and] gorgeous neckline! I will be buying more. I am 69 and I love classic cut, comfortable [for] travels and [it] packs perfectly. Lightweight enough to wear year-round.” Speaking of the square neckline, one TikTok user showed that it can be worn backwards and look just as good (if not even better) for a more modest look and sexy open back situation.

Best Long-Sleeve Knit Dress

19. NBD Bekah Dress

NBD

  • What We Like: maternity-approved, stretchy fabric, V-neck, back-tie detail
  • What We Don't Like: runs big
  • Material: viscose, polyamide
  • Size range: XS to L

“I wore this for my maternity shoot [and it] photographed great. [It has a] perfect neckline and excellent quality. I can wear this pregnant or not [as it] hugs [the body] in all the right places,” says one satisfied reviewer who wore a size small at 33 weeks pregnant, adding that it runs big. Others agreed, praising the stretchiness of the rib knit fabric that neither feels too stretchy nor too thin and makes this pull-on style a breeze. While we’re suckers for a cheeky V-neck, there’s nothing better than a back-tie detail to take our breath away. And this one has the most charming strings that tie below the nape, fastening the support your girls will feel at the front of the dress and providing that extra oomph when you turn your back.

Best Long-Sleeve Linen Dress

20. Jenni Kayne Linen August Dress

Jenni Kayne

  • What We Like: well-constructed, versatile, comfortable, keyhole button closure
  • What We Don't Like: runs large
  • Material: linen
  • Size range: XS to 3X

PureWow commerce editor Olivia Dubyak is a self-proclaimed sundress hoarder and shared her love for the Jenni Kayne Cove dress just last year, but this year we’re all about the linen August dress. If the Cove dress is one of the most well-constructed dresses, according to Dubyak, then we can expect this black mini to follow suit. Made from 100 percent linen, this dress embodies simplicity and versatility. Whether you pair it with sandals for a weekend stroll to the farmers market or with tights and boots as you go pumpkin picking at the apple orchard, it’s bound to make you feel chic and effortlessly put-together. “I wore my linen August dress for the first time this weekend on an outing to the city,” says a Jenni Kayne reviewer. “It was comfortable, held up during travel and was oh-so CHIC! I received so many compliments! Great for day or eveningwear with a change of shoes and bag!” Psst…there’s even a sweet keyhole button at the back of the dress and *drumroll please* pockets on either side. We suggest sizing down from your usual size as many reviewers note that this typically runs large.

Best Long Sleeve Denim Dress

21. Mare Mare Denim Shirt Dress

Mare Mare

  • What We Like: trending, doubles as a shirt, oversize breast pockets, drop sleeve, buttoned cuffs
  • What We Don't Like: might run too short on taller women
  • Material: cotton, polyester
  • Size range: XXS to XL

Conroy predicts denim dresses will be one of the trendiest outfits to covet this fall. And if you find one that doubles as a shirt like this Mare Mare number from Anthropologie, then you’ve hit the jackpot. Made from a cotton-polyester blend, this mini dress has a button closure that can be left open as a shirt, if preferred, and two oversize breast pockets. It also has a slight drop sleeve that appears to be extra roomy around the armpits, and to tie it altogether, there are buttons along the cuffs that will look relaxed if left undone and cool when rolled up.

Best Long-Sleeve Ruffle Dress

22. QVC Animal Print Ruffle Wrap Maxi Dress

QVC

  • What We Like: animal print, bold, modest silhouette, semi-sheer sleeves, ruffles, side tie
  • What We Don't Like: bold print may be difficult to wear
  • Material: polyester
  • Size range: 4 to 16

Something about a wrap dress in a leopard print has us wanting to walk with our shoulders back and head held high. Adventurous and bold print aside, this dress is modest at its core, with long, semi-sheer sleeves, ruffles along the hem, a subtle V-neck and a side tie that accentuates the waist. What’s more, it has a lining that ends just above the ruffles along the hem, creating the loveliest sheer detail that matches the sleeves.

Best Long-Sleeve Casual Dress

23. Athleta Coaster Luxe Dress

Athleta

  • What We Like: multiple color options, multiple fits available, soft, functional pockets
  • What We Don't Like: may need to size up
  • Material: Tencel lyocell, polyester, lycra
  • Size range: XXS to 3X

Our hot girl walks aren’t stopping just because the seasons are changing. In fact, we’re keeping our routine in check all year long, and the only thing that’s changing is our wardrobe. Enter: this Athleta activewear dress that’s made from recycled materials and comes in three fit options (regular, tall and petite). “I got this in tall,” says one customer. “I am 5'8" but I wanted it to be slightly longer because my curvy backside tends to make dresses [sit] shorter in the back. I could have been happy with the regular size also, but I like the extra length for winter. It fit perfectly—it skimmed my body to give it shape [and] was not tight or frumpy! The material is very soft and has a way of really making your body look amazing and fit! The pockets are nice and don't take away from the shape of the dress. If you have extra weight in your middle, I recommend going up a size.” So, whether you’re off to the pickleball courts, headed on your morning walk or running errands, this semi-fitted athleisure look will make you feel cozy—thanks to that super soft brushed fabric—and stylish. We love that the violet adds a subtle splash of color, but there’s a black and heather gray available for our fellow neutral lovers.

Best Long-Sleeve Chiffon Dress

24. Draper James Brandi Tie Waist in Garden Posy

Draper James

  • What We Like: lightweight, interesting print, Southern-inspired, removable self-tie belted waist, smocked cuffs, semi-sheer sleeves, open crewneck
  • What We Don't Like: lack of color options
  • Material: polyester
  • Size range: XS to 3XL

This sweet floral mini from Draper James features so many beautiful details, we almost don’t know where to begin. Made with a crinkle chiffon that’s airy and lightweight, this Southern-charmed dress has a self-tie belted waist (that’s removable!), tiered ruffle skirt, smocked cuffs and is semi-sheer along the sleeves, neck and shoulders. And we just love how the crewneck is opened, revealing a smidge more skin. All it’s missing is a lightweight cardigan and Chelsea boots to make it a complete ensemble.

Best Long-Sleeve Mini Dress

25. Faithfull the Brand Yves Mini Dress Salamanca

Faithfull the Brand

  • What We Like: high-quality, boat neck, hand-printed design, scoop back
  • What We Don't Like: fabric has no stretch
  • Material: rayon crepe
  • Size range: XS to XXL

“There’s no gatekeeping at PureWow,” says associate fashion commerce editor Stephanie Meraz. “So, I have to tell you that I recently discovered my new favorite brand: Faithful the Brand. The brand has chic, elegant and high-quality pieces in their collections. And if you know me, you know that I adore a boat neckline, so this Yves mini dress in the brand’s Salamanca print is stunning. And did you know that it’s hand-printed, too? That special detail makes me appreciate the making of the dress that much more. I also love how the mini length of the dress is well balanced by the higher neckline and long sleeves. If you take a peek at the back of the dress, you’ll find that there’s a small scoop detail along the back that’s delicately secured with two strings. If you ask me, I’d style it just like the model above for a Friendsgiving party, dinner date and maybe to the office—with tights, of course!” Meraz’s only qualm? It has no lining, so while she knows it’ll look finely poised, she worries about the fabric’s possible sheerness.

Best Long-Sleeve Print Dress

26. Zara Contrasting Print Short Dress

Zara

  • What We Like: bold pattern, loose fit, round neck, smocked detail
  • What We Don't Like: pattern may be difficult to wear
  • Material: polyester
  • Size range: XS to XXL

Don’t underestimate the power of a long-sleeve dress from Zara. This mini dress contains a mish-mosh of contrasting patterns—from paisley to florals to cheetah print—that, to our surprise, work impeccably well together. In fact, there’s something so darling about the bold patterns that makes us want to flaunt it in our everyday wardrobe with a pair of cowboy-inspired boots. The bodice and skirt fit loose around the frame, creating a breezy, billowy movement as you walk. If you look closely, the dress has a round neck and smocked detail at the chest that’ll feel comfortable and provide you with a teensy bit more insulation and warmth come the cooler weather.

What to Consider When Choosing a Long-Sleeve Dress

To find out the nitty gritty on all the things you should consider when searching for a long sleeve dress, we tapped New York- and Toronto-based celebrity fashion expert and TV host Cindy Conroy for some help. She breaks down all the juicy answers, below.

  • Materials and fabric: “Is there too much material? What type of fabric is it made from? If you get hot commuting in a blouse and jeans outfit, wearing a wool sweater dress is probably not the best fit for you,” Conroy shares. “Instead consider a mini shift dress made from a viscose and polyester blend.” Consider your personal preferences, assess your natural body temperature and look at the description on the tags. Got it.
  • Style: As Conroy previously mentioned, figuring out what works best for your body and what makes you feel confident, sexy, secure and comfortable is all that really matters when it comes down to it. Whether you love a tiered dress that can hide your belly, fitted frock that’ll show off your curves or balloon sleeves that bring the volume and pizazz, it’s important to make a mental note of what styles make you feel your most you. On the other hand, it’s also fun to venture outside your usual style and try out a new look that just may surprise you.
  • Consider what you already own: Just when you thought you could press “Add to Cart” on that boho number you’ve been eyeing, you might want to take a peek at your closet and make a mental checklist of items you already own, says Conroy. This includes items that aren’t dresses, too. “Think blazers, tights, turtlenecks, cardigans, jackets and trenches. As you consider their color, fit and pattern, you’ll be able to thoughtfully curate a must-have list. Items you want to purchase that maximizes your current wardrobe.” Creating a fully styled outfit for your new, long-sleeve dress? We approve.

How Do You Style a Long-Sleeve Dress?

Styling a long-sleeve dress depends on the type of dress and style you invest in. This fall, “slim silhouetted jersey dresses, knitted wool midis and long-sleeve cut outs with mid hemlines are all on the must-have list this season. But possibly the most versatile is a cardigan dress,” says Conroy. A long-sleeve dress is remarkably versatile. “It can be worn true to its design with booties or thigh-high boots for a chilly weather antidote. Or with Mary Janes and a statement belt for a look that plays with proportions and texture.” And if you thought about slipping on your kitten heels, you’re on the right track, says Conroy, who thinks a heel is a classic but impactful workwear choice. As for us, well we’ll be rotating between our sneakers and ballet flats any chance we get.

What Jacket Goes with a Long-Sleeve Dress?

Whether you’re wearing a denim, fire engine red or lightweight satin crepe long-sleeve dress, Conroy’s got some style advice for you when it comes to bundling up and staying warm as winter approaches. “For thin long-sleeve numbers that feel almost impossible to wear in the fall, layer up. That’s the cure. A sleeveless vest, bold moto or architectural jacket—they work wonders to keep you nice and toasty.” And you can’t go wrong with a cashmere sweater or knit cardigan as the leaves begin to change and a wool parka in the winter.
