It's not often a fashion trend comes around that hits the trifecta of being wearable for everyday, aligning with my own style and workable with just a few new pieces, but this year's fisherman aesthetic totally does. While I already have a slew of chunky knit sweaters and utilitarian jackets to lean on, one thing I was definitely missing was a good pair of boat shoes—so, of course, I turned to PureWow editor-favorite brand, Rothy's. The brand recently launched The Boat Shoe ($119), a cute, comfy loafer-like style that's accented with nautical-inspired lacing. I wore them several times over the course of a few weeks, and let me just say, it was smooth sailing. Here's everything you need to know if you, too, are looking to dive into boat shoes this spring and summer.

Rothy's

The Boat Shoe comes in five colors—bay blue, driftwood, sea foam, shimmery sand and sunbaked pink—and is available in sizes 5 though 13, with half-sizes included. And like many of Rothy's other designs, they have a cushy, lightweight foam footbed and rubber outsole that provides plenty of traction. Plus, they can be machine-washed to keep them looking as good as new—just be sure to air dry them to keep the hemp-blend fabric in its best condition.

Rothy's

As for my experience wearing the shoes (I chose the "shimmery sand" color, BTW), I was impressed from the get-go. The knit fabric is super flexible, and the only part that required a bit of breaking in was the heel—but they were definitely comfortable from the first wear. I also chose to wear mine with socks because I get blisters easily and wanted a bit of extra warmth and cushioning, but you can totally wear them on their own, too, especially since they're fully washable. As for sizing, I did order my usual size and haven't had any issues, though the brand does recommend going down half a size—which I would recommend if you're planning to wear them sockless. And finally, I love how versatile the style is. I can just as easily pair them with jeans, or even joggers, as I can with a sundress, which made them a particularly worthwhile add to my shoe collection, especially as we head into summer travel season.

Not to mention, I'm not the only one swooning over them. One reviewer raved, "I may never buy another pair of shoes; I had to add space in my closet for shoes! These shoes are super comfortable and I get compliments every day," while another said, "I am new to Rothy's but am now a convert. These shoes are so comfortable and stylish. They are the perfect transition from winter to summer shoes."

So if you want to join me and other Rothy's shoppers in experiencing these cute, comfy boat shoes that I have no doubt I'll wear all the way through fall, scoop up a pair now while the size and color you're eyeing is still in stock.
