As a vertically challenged person, I have already waxed poetic about the hardships of wearing pants when you’re under 5’3” as well as some of my favorite petite-friendly brands. And while I’m still addicted to my Anthro Colettes, I’ve got a new beloved pair of baby blues (and they cost half the price).

Let me introduce the newest offering from Quince, the retailer that just recently entered the denim market.

For the uninitiated, Quince is an online-only brand that launched in 2018 as a source for high-quality clothing at affordable price points. Think: Cashmere cardigans that rival Jenni Kayne and work-ready blouses that clock in under $100. They’re also one of the few DTC brands that offers petite sizing, albeit in limited styles.

The good news for shorties? As of this fall, they have a small selection of jeans (four styles, to be exact), all of which are available with a shortened inseam.

I tried the Stretch Mid Rise Slim Straight Jeans in a 26-inch inseam, and they fit like a glove. Among the things I like: the very slight stretch, which means they have give in the butt and thighs, but don’t sag in the knees; the straight ankle-length leg, which is a nice balance between an old-fashioned skinny jean and a more modern silhouette; the dark indigo wash, which makes them work and evening appropriate. If you look closely, you can see that the denim is slightly thinner than a luxury brand, and I don’t know how they’ll hold up to years of use. That said, I’ve had them for two months and have washed them two times (don’t judge me!), and they still look good as new—no fading, no puckering.

Mostly, I find myself wearing them everywhere. They’re comfortable enough for airplanes and dressy enough for dinner out, and could easily pass for a more expensive brand.

Oh, and they fit me without the help of a tailor. (Sorry, tailor.)

These guys are a lot like mine, they just sit a little higher up on your waist. Reviewers report they’re great for wider hips and are flattering from the behind.

Want a wider ankle opening? Try this ‘90s-inspired offering which looks great with heels and sneakers alike.

For a looser ‘90s look, go with this uber-comfortable option, which only comes in medium and light washes. The inseam options are 28- and 30-inches, meaning they may be too long for some petites (unless you rock them with a 3-inch heel).
