Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie Pull Out More Eye-Popping Headwear for Coronation

If you're from the United States, then you might not be familiar with a fascinator. In short, it's a piece of headwear that looks like a fancy hat and is usually attached to a headband or hair clip. Among the royal family members, fascinators are practically a must, and two royals who seem to particularly love them are Sarah Ferguson, 63, and Prince Andrew's, 63, daughters, Princess Beatrice, 34, and Princess Eugenie, 33. Unsurprisingly, the two pulled out their best statement accessories for the coronation, and while Beatrice went for a more typical hat, Eugenie kept the fascinator streak going.

While attending the coronation at Westminster Abbey, Princess Eugenie wore a monochromatic navy blue outfit, which she accessorized with a matching abstract fascinator.

Meanwhile, her younger sister opted for a wide golden headband that sat on the top of her head. And although this headwear did not include any zany accessories attached, it certainly still won us over (and by pairing it with her bright pink dress from Beulah London, Princess Beatrice brought her usual sense of colorful fashion).

The royals really stepped up their headwear game at the coronation. From Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte's matching floral headbands to Lady Louise Windsor's large lavender sunhat, there was no shortage of impressive caps.

In the past, we've seen the sisters wear these attention-grabbing accessories on a number of important occasions, from Trooping the Colour ceremonies and Services of Thanksgiving to royal weddings, like that of their cousin, Prince William, 40, and his wife, Princess Catherine, 41 (where the sisters' fascinators caught everyone's eye).

Fascinators have been a part of royal fashion for centuries, with Allure noting that between 1485 and 1603, it become quite common for English and Welsh women to demonstrate their status by wearing elaborate headpieces, one of them becoming the fascinator.

We're glad to see these wild fashion pieces haven't gone out of style.
