A few weeks ago, while walking through Ted Baker’s Spring/Summer collection preview, I came face to face with a rack of polka dot pieces—gowns, blouses and everything in between. It confirmed my suspicions: Out of all the spring print trends making waves right now, polka dots are number one. Personally, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the return of this timeless print ever since I saw Jennifer Lawrence wear a polka dot dress from Christian Dior’s haute couture collection to the 2024 Oscars. As someone who once scoffed at polka dot fashion, that 180-degree shift speaks volumes—and it has everything to do with how the print is being interpreted today. Mark my words: This trending print is about to be everywhere for the next few months.

Are you surprised? Considering how fashion trends come and go (hello, baggy jorts, belts on belts on belts, boho vibes, skinny jeans!!!), it was only a matter of time before polka dots made a comeback. And I’m not shocked—especially after seeing it dominate Wimbledon last year, where Margot Robbie, Kirsten Dunst and even Princess Charlotte stunned in the must-have print. Whether you're drawn to classic or modern styles, you'll quickly realize that polka dots are surprisingly versatile. Dresses like the Reformation Naira dress ($278) exude an elegant, timeless vibe that perfectly captures the essence of the print, while Revolve’s AFRM Eliza top ($68) offers a cheekier, fresh and modern twist—ruffling the poised print in the best way. Even luxury fashion labels like Carolina Herrera, Miu Miu and others have featured polka dots in their Spring/Summer 2025 collections, just like Ted Baker. And that just tells me this trend is here to stay.

How Do I Wear the Polka Dot Print Trend in 2025?

As someone who typically prefers solid colors over prints, I can assure you that polka dots are far from intimidating. In fact, they’re surprisingly easy to wear once you understand the various ways to style them.

  • Stick to the classics with a dress: One of the easiest ways to rock polka dots is with a dress. The print is already doing most of the work for you, so all that's left to figure out are shoes and accessories—and that's where you can really get creative. For a classic look, pair it with black pumps and a small clutch. For a modern twist, try loafers with chunky socks and a bowling bag overflowing with bag charms.
  • Incorporate polka dots in small doses: I don’t know about you, but I’m not wearing a dress every day of the week…and that’s totally fine. Swap your usual tees for a polka dot blouse and watch how it elevates your outfit. There are also plenty of polka dot skirts and pants out there if you’d prefer to wear the print as bottoms. For a foolproof approach, balance out the bold print with something neutral or basic. If you're feeling adventurous, break the rules and mix prints. Pairing polka dots with stripes, for example, can make for a fun, stylish clash.
  • Treat polka dots like a pop of color with accessories: If wearing polka dots head-to-toe feels too much, don’t worry—you can still play with the print in your accessories. A polka dot high heel or spotted handbag can add a touch of fun without overwhelming the entire look. It's a great way to dip your toes into the trend if you're not ready to fully commit.

Like I mentioned, whether you go big or small, this print is easy to incorporate into your current wardrobe and guaranteed to make a statement. Here are a few of my favorite polka dot pieces to shop to start rocking the trend.

One of the easiest ways to incorporate the polka dot print trend is with a going-out top like this stunner from Anthropologie’s Maeve brand. Who knew a muscle top could look this sophisticated? “The mesh fabric is very soft and lays beautifully,” says one buyer, who paired hers with wide-leg trousers. “It's nice to wear to work as well for something smart casual.” According to some customers, the back may run slightly see-through, since the mesh isn’t double lined like the front of the blouse, but that’s nothing nipple pasties or a cute bralette can’t fix.

When I visited Ted Baker’s preview the other week, I swooned the second I spotted this sleeveless mini, and it’s been etched in my mind ever since. Between its shift silhouette, frilled hem and scarf tie at the neck, this is the type of dress that deserves to be worn all season long. It’s what I’d like to refer as the modern-day Pretty Woman polka dot number—just minus the dirt at the polo fields.

For a pop of polka dots on your feet, opt for these mesh pumps from Sam Edelman. The classic pumps make for a timeless look, whether you wear them to a black tie event with a formal dress or on the weekends with some distressed jeans. Yes, the heel height is steep (3.75 inches, to be exact), but customers assure they’re very comfortable.

There’s nothing quite like a poplin sundress, especially a versatile one like this polka dot cutie. It features a smocked bodice that’ll make this oh-so comfortable and stretchy no matter how many servings of potato salad you go for at the weekend BBQ. If you’ve been eyeing drop-waist dresses, the dip-waist cut on this frock is a nice steppingstone.

How cute is this polka dot Ganni bag? It’s comprised of recycled leather and faux leather, making it sustainable, too. There’s one main compartment to house all your essentials, with a zip pocket on the inside for the smaller knickknacks. Perhaps the most important detail is that the handbag comes with an 18-inch detachable (and adjustable!) shoulder strap.

Trade in your trousers for these darling polka dot capris from Free People. They have a slim, flattering fit and retro feel to them that’ll go exceptionally well with kitten heels. At the back, you’ll find tiny slits along the hems that’ll provide a bit of functional room while you move and look extra stylish, too.

Plisse pants are the a godsend for when you want to prioritize comfort but look a little more put-together than if you were to wear sweatpants. With these wide-leg pants from Topshop, you’ll get to enjoy all the plisse perks, from a stretchy, elastic waistband to a lightweight pleated fabric. Oh, and a polka dot print, of course.

As soon as I saw this A-line Reformation dress, I knew I had to include it on this list. It’s fitted at the bodice, relaxed at the waist and is made with a drapey, lightweight crepe fabric, so what’s not to love? Despite its predominately white fabric, there’s a lining that prevents this from looking sheer. Bells and whistles aside, it’s simply a classy dress that’ll turn heads and render *tons* of compliments.

Elevate your collection of blouses with this off-the-shoulder ruched top. I’m always a little hesitant of any pull-on blouse (because there’s nothing worse than when the top gets stuck at the shoulders), but this one is made with a jersey fabric that includes spandex, so it’ll be nice and stretchy.

One way to smash the ‘90s minimal trend is with a really good slip dress. This one just happens to be covered in a gorgeous polka dot print that really livens the look up. “[It’s] such a pretty addition to my closet,” gushes one J.Crew shopper, who mentions that it runs true to size. “It’s super comfortable and will be perfect for summer. It’s very lightweight and easy to pack.” Tie a sweater at the waist and slip on some loafers for the cutest weekend ensemble.

This sweet polka dot blouse looks like it came straight out of a Parisian’s closet. The long-sleeve number has a striking square neckline that’ll frame the chest nicely and leave enough room for a necklace. Best of all, it’s made from a blend of breathable cotton and linen, so it’ll be perfect to wear well into the warmer seasons.

Behold: Your next wedding guest dress. It’s long, pleated, tiered and reasonably priced. While I love a black dress just as much as the next gal, there’s something about this polka dot version that feels more fashionable and modern, especially with its asymmetrical design. There’s even a tasteful slit along the thigh that shows just the right amount of leg without risking an accidental slip.

So, you want to dip your toe (literally) into the whole polka dot thing—I get it, which is why I found these sheer socks to get the job done. The polka dot print is muted by the vibrant red colorway, so you can style it like you would any other pop of color.

14. Reformation Nila Top

Reformation

A halter top that has a deep V-neckline and gaping, open back ready to turn heads…yeah, that’s this blouse. If your familiar with Reformation’s fabric, then you’ll be pleased to discover that this is made with the brand’s signature georgette fabric, which has a lightweight and slightly texted feel. My only qualm is that the halter neck isn’t adjustable, so the fit may vary.

She wore an itsy bitsy teeny weenie yellow polka dot bikini…OK, OK, it’s neither teeny nor yellow, but it is a polka dot swimsuit, and one that you’ll certainly want to have on hand for beach getaways and pool dips. This classic one-piece is a Summersalt best seller, boasting amazing features like boob support, compression and coverage all around (bum included). It’s the suit you put on for swimming and photo-ops.
