Phenomenal Woman Launched a Charitable “Black Lives Matter” Sweatshirt, and Sold 1K in a Single Day

black lives matter sweatshirt phenomenal woman hero

Phenomenal Woman, the female-powered lifestyle brand and action campaign that brings awareness to social causes, recently produced a "Black Lives Matter" sweatshirt—and unsurprisingly, they've sold over 1,000 of them in the last 24 hours.

The crewneck pullover is a soft black cotton featuring the words "Black Lives Matter" in a lowercase script across the chest. All proceeds from the sale benefit Black Futures Lab, a nonprofit organization founded by Alicia Garza (also a co-founder of Black Lives Matter) that works to build Black political power.

Inspired by Maya Angelou's "Phenomenal Woman" poem, the Phenomenal Women organization is known for creating powerful and compelling sweatshirts and T-shirts to support initiatives surrounding women and minorities. In addition to their fast-selling piece, they also offer a "Black Lives Matter" T-shirt ($40), a "Phenomenally Black" hoodie ($58), a "Phenomenally Black" T-shirt ($35) and a "Thank Black Women" T-shirt ($35).

The brand itself want you to know that, "By getting the official 'Phenomenal Woman' t-shirt, you're not only making a bold statement in support of women everywhere, you're also supporting the critical work that's being done for women's rights on the ground by fearless organizations every day."

Click here to shop all of the pieces from the Phenomenally Black collection, and while you're at it, consider donating to an organization supporting Black communities, listening to a podcast to learn about race and racism in America, reading a book to further educate yourself on the subject, or using your time and resources to help in a number of other ways.
