I must confess: I never understood the hype around the pricey Canada Goose coats…that is before, I got my hands on one. As a Southern California native, I didn’t really *need* a winter coat (I mean, the weather rarely drops below 40 degrees), so dropping a dime on a Canada Goose style that can range anywhere from $525 to $2,395 didn’t seem financially smart for my SoCal living situation. ICYDK, the brand is distinguished for having some of the best winter jackets on the market that can withstand below freezing temperatures—I’m talking an ‘Extreme’ level Thermal Experience Index (TEI) of -25 degrees Fahrenheit and below. Every coat is made with la crème de la crème fabrics and materials like down and Pima cotton and come with a lifetime warranty, really making that investment worthwhile.
Last year, the brand gave me the chance to test out the Canada Goose Garnet Cropped Puffer ($1,650), and I jumped at the opportunity (after all, what better way to look at the buzzy brand than with apprehensive eyes), and now that I live in London, where we’ve already seen first snowfall, my puffer has never seen more use or travelled more miles. From LA to London, here’s my honest review of my Canada Goose Garnet Cropped Puffer coat, including a breakdown of the quality, fit, functionality, value and warmth.
