If you’re watching Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere, you’re probably becoming familiar with Megan Stott, who plays Reese Witherspoon’s rebellious daughter, Izzy. So, who is the 15-year-old actress? Keep reading for everything we know about Megan Stott.
Who Is Megan Stott (aka Izzy in ‘Little Fires Everywhere’)?
1. Who Is Megan Stott?
She’s an up-and-coming actress who is widely known for playing Izzy in Little Fires Everywhere (based on Celeste Ng’s namesake novel). Prior to the breakout role, Stott had small parts in So Shook and Second Star to the Right, but the Hulu series is considered her first major gig. Not a bad deal, if you ask us.
2. Is She Actually Like Izzy In 'little Fires Everywhere'?
Yes, but she’s very different in real life. In a recent interview with StyleCaster, Stott revealed that she was hesitant when she first heard about the role.
“I thought that I wasn’t the right pick for her,” she said. “I am just very bubbly. I’m very happy all the time. I’m very positive, and Izzy has many struggles in her life, and she has a lot of things that make her sad and a lot of conflicts that I didn’t think I could relate to.”
After “sitting” with the character, Stott realized that it was right up her alley. “The more I got to know her, the more I fell in love with her,” she added. “I just thought she was such an amazing character.”
3. Did She Read The Novel?
Duh. The actress even told Hollywood Life that she thinks the TV adaptation does the book justice.
“I think the book is so incredible and so potent in its own right,” she said. “I think that our fearless showrunner did such a great job of adapting it and keeping the integrity of the book, but this is a TV series and we have more hands on it. We have more space to expand our characters and emotions.”
4. Is She Musically Gifted In Real Life?
Absolutely. Stott admitted that it’s one of the main things she has in common with Izzy. “She also plays an instrument, and I relate to that because I used to play violin for a time, and I sing and I play piano,” she told StyleCaster. “I saw it as a way she expressed her emotions, and that’s the same thing for me. When you play an instrument, whether you’re singing or dancing or anything, it’s like the real meat of everything that is built up in your life.”
5. What's Next For Megan Stott?
Other than Little Fires Everywhere, Stott doesn’t have any other projects lined up, excluding a short film called So Extra! But based on her performance in the Hulu series, we have a feeling this is only the beginning for the up-and-coming actress.
