It’s 1998. I’m wearing a black tattoo choker. My hair is pulled back in no less than 15 butterfly clips. My frosted, ultra-sticky lip gloss is poppin’. Life is good.
Then came the fateful windy day when I realized that having half your hair stuck to your mouth after getting caught in the breeze (and subsequently having sparkly gobs of stickiness in your hair) wasn’t worth the benefits of a slick-looking pout. And just like that I swore off the stuff for good and became a lip balm person.
So what’s a girl to do now that the trend is back? Yes, I tried matte lipstick—my lips are still recovering from all the dehydration. I was mulling over this dilemma (because while trends come and go, wind definitely does not) when the solution was revealed in the form of a shiny package sliding across my desk: Kosas Wet Lip Oil Gloss. I’ve messed with enough lip oils to know that they’re super nourishing and flake negating, but the initial glistening effect wears off pretty quickly. This one, though, promised to give me the same benefits in addition to all the things I love so dearly about a gloss.
