Country star Zach Bryan found himself with one less social media account after making a drunken comparison about Taylor Swift and Kanye West.

It all started on Wednesday, September 18, when Bryan took to X to drop a controversial take. Eagles > chiefs,” followed by, “Kanye > Taylor.” He ended the post with a provocative, “who’s with me?”

The answer seemingly drove Bryan to deactivate his X account. Swifties defended the mega pop star and left comments like, “He knew not to mess with the Swifties,” and, “Crazy take wrong in both ways,”on a PopCrave post of the tweet. The next day, the "Revival" singer took to Instagram to clarify his comments and apologize for comparing the two music icons.

“For the record guys I wasn’t coming for Taylor the other night," Bryan wrote in an Instagram Story featuring Swift's song "Fortnight" from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department. "I was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong."

"I know there’s a lot of stuff that clouds around Ye and I was speaking purely musically," he continued, making note of Swift and West's complicated past.

"I love Taylor’s music and pray you guys know I’m human and tweet stupid things often," the country star admitted. "Hope one day I can explain this to her. Twitter gets me in trouble too much and I'd say it's best I stay off it. I’m sorry to any Taylor fans I pissed off or let down. Love you guys and I’m trying my best!”

In Bryan's next Story, he opened up about dealing with personal struggles, this time sharing Swift's song "The Albatross."

“I think I was projecting a little. To be completely honest, it just came off as rude and desensitized to Taylor. I respect her so much as a musician,” he wrote and reminded fans to not "drink and tweet.”

Bryan wrapped up his apology by acknowledging Taylor's impact on the music scene and his plans to take a break.

"I’m going to take a breather from tweeting stupid stuff, finish my tour, and ground myself somehow in the midst of all this," he wrote. "I feel very, very blessed each day. Not taking it for granted and holding onto it has been so important to me, Okay, needed to get this off my chest, yall are the best and I’ll see you at Bourbon and Beyond.”
