Kate Middleton Wears Iconic See-Through Dress in New ‘The Crown’ Season 6 Photos

It's *the* runway moment

While Kate Middleton, 41, continues to be one of the world's biggest fashion icons, her love for couture dates all the way back to her college days. In case you didn't know, the Princess of Wales actually walked in a fashion show while she was a student at the University of St Andrews, and it was apparently this runway moment that really got Prince William, 41, swooning. And now, Netflix is recreating this pivotal moment for the sixth and final season of The Crown.

The streaming service just released a first-look photo of actress Meg Bellamy as Princess Catherine in season six of The Crown.

Inspired by the now-famous runway moment, the Princess of Wales is wearing a sheer dress that leaves little to the imagination. While the frock itself is completely see-through, she’s rocking a matching two-piece underneath that resembles a swimsuit. The actual dress worn by Middleton can be seen below.

The fifth season of the über-popular Netflix series leaves viewers in 1997, and the final season follows Queen Elizabeth II's reign into the 21st century.

As royal followers might be able to tell you, the early 2000s is when Prince William first met Princess Catherine, while they were both students at the University of St Andrews.

While they had encountered each other on campus before, it was reportedly when the Princess of Wales took part in a charity fashion show that she really caught Will’s eye. The see-through knitted design, crafted by Charlotte Todd, was modeled by Princess Catherine in 2002. According to royal reporter Katie Nicholl, the Prince of Wales was showering his future wife with compliments that night.

Prior to season six, we’d only seen Prince William (and his younger brother, Prince Harry) as small children. But for the newest installment, Ed McVey will play Prince William, while Luther Ford will portray Prince Harry. (If you're wondering, Prince Harry did not meet Meghan Markle until 2016, so she will not be featured in the series.)

The second half of The Crown season six will premiere on December 14.
