There’s a saying that goes, "your children will follow the footsteps that you leave for them," and while every family dynamic is different, it definitely seems to ring true for Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick's son, James Wilkie Broderick.

According to Deadline, James is set to make his guest-starring debut on the upcoming episode of CBS’ anthology crime series Elsbeth. But here’s the plot twist—his dad, Matthew, will also be appearing in the episode. That means for the first time ever, father and son will share the screen together, playing key roles in a story set in the cutthroat world of college admissions consulting.

In the episode, Matthew will play Lawrence Grey, a high-powered figure who helps Manhattan’s elite get their kids into the best prep schools and Ivy League colleges—no matter their grades or test scores, Deadline reports. Lawrence is rich, powerful and well-connected but when someone threatens his position, he doesn’t hesitate to resort to drastic measures to protect his empire.

As for James, the outlet reports he will take on the role of Carl, a “success trainer” at Grey’s company, Outmatch Educational Consulting. He helps the children of New York’s wealthiest families navigate the world of college admissions, doing whatever it takes to secure their place at top-tier universities.

This won’t be James’ first time in front of the camera, though. The 21-year-old, who is currently a senior at Brown University studying classics and acting, had a small role earlier this year in Lady in the Lake on Apple TV+, which stars Natalie Portman. James is also an active part of New York’s theater scene and has appeared in several short films.

As for what’s next for James? Could we see him pop up in And Just Like That… alongside his mom, Sarah Jessica Parker? We’ll have to wait and see, but it definitely seems like this young actor is following in his parents' footsteps.
