Prepare to laugh

Ryan Reynolds is back at it again, roasting his friends in the most hilarious way. While he’s typically known for trolling his wife, Blake Lively (remember when he joked about voting for the first time in the U.S.?), this time he set his sights on none other than Jonathan Bailey.

On January 7, Reynolds, 48, presented Wicked: Part One—which stars Bailey, 36, as Fiyero—at the National Board of Review Awards gala in NYC. During his presentation, Reynolds couldn’t resist poking fun at Bailey’s "too perfect" demeanor.

“I have one note,” he joked. “I think we can all agree that Jonathan Bailey is objectively perfect. Perhaps too perfect. Personally, I would've preferred fewer scenes featuring Mr. Bailey.”

Reynolds went on to sarcastically lament Bailey’s overwhelming charisma, stating, “Being good is great, but being great is bad. You can't just go around indiscriminately spraying charisma all over an enraptured audience. It might feel nice in the moment, but it could easily destabilize the entire industry.”

The Deadpool & Wolverine star didn’t stop there, adding, “The HLMS, or Hollywood Leading Man Society, simply cannot sustain a standard of performance this high, and it is in our collective best interest that Jonathan Bailey tone it the f--k down. I cannot work harder than I already work, and plastic surgery frightens me, Johnny. Let’s just pump the talent brakes or get out of f--king town.”

But Reynolds, ever the charmer, didn’t leave without some genuine praise, calling Bailey “hardworking,” “kind” and “easy on the eyes.” He closed his roast by jokingly warning, “Do not force our hand, Bailey.”

At the gala, Wicked: Part One scooped up awards for Best Film, Best Director and a Spotlight Award for Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande’s “creative collaboration.” Just days earlier, it also snagged a Golden Globe for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.
