Queen Elizabeth called a critical meeting at Sandringham Estate today to discuss Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step back as senior members of the royal family.
The 93-year-old monarch gathered with Prince Harry, Prince William and Prince Charles to smooth out how the royal transition will work and it seems the family is moving toward a solution. Following the two-and-a-half-hour family summit, Her Majesty issued a candid statement about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s future.
“Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family,” the queen said.
“My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family,” she continued. “Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.”
