Royal Family Shares Heartwarming Video of Queen Camilla Making Young Boy's Day After He Misses King's Garden Party

Queen Camilla recently made a young boy's day extra special with a delightful tea session after he missed a previous royal engagement.

Nine-year-old Tony Hudgell was set to attend a royal garden party with his family in May, but traffic issues derailed their plans. 

"Stuck on M20 for last 2 hours," Tony's mother, Paula Hudgell, shared on X (formerly Twitter). "Won't be making the King's Garden Party."

No worries, though, as the royal family's account quickly responded with an option for the family to join for tea another time.

“Sorry to hear this, Tony! We were looking forward to seeing you too. Fancy trying again another day? Leave it with us,” read the response.

Staying true to their word, Tony, who is a double amputee, and his family had a memorable visit hosted by Queen Camilla, 76, on Wednesday, June 26. They were joined by 12-year-old Lyla O’Donovan, who missed the first garden party due to being in the hospital.

Their royal experience began with watching the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. Following this, they enjoyed tea with Queen Camilla in the charming Summer House in the garden. The day concluded with an exclusive private tour of The Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace.

To make the event even that more special, Queen Camilla herself presented Tony with a British Empire Medal (BEM), which recognizes meritorious civil or military service. The boy co-founded the Tony Hudgell Foundation and was nominated in the 2024 New Year Honours.

Lyla, who has been raising money for sick children all while bravely living with a rare brain tumor, was honored with the Inspirational Service Child of the Year award at North Yorkshire Council's inaugural Service Children’s Awards in May.
