Cue the balloons and confetti, because the royal family of Jordan is celebrating a major birthday.
Princess Iman turned 28 today, and her brother, Crown Prince Hussein, marked the occasion with a sweet photo of the royal bonding with her newborn niece—who happens to share the same name. On Instagram, he wrote, "Wishing a wonderful birthday to Iman! May our little girl, your namesake, carry many of your beautiful and peaceful qualities."
In the pic, the proud aunt cradles the baby, who appears to be fast asleep. While the newborn is swaddled in a white blanket and matching hat, Princess Iman bint Hussein is wearing an elegant black top with a green skirt. Fans filled the comments section with their well wishes, and one wrote, "Happy new year, Princess Iman, may you be well, healthy and safe."
Now, when I first spotted this pic, I had to do a double-take—I could have sworn I'd seen it before. Why? Because Princess Iman's gesture is nearly identical to her mom's in the prince's recent birthday tribute to Queen Rania. In the post, which was shared by the royal in honor of his mother about a month ago, the queen is seen cradling her granddaughter in the exact same way.
You'll notice that she's also donning a black shirt as she looks down at the newborn. The prince captioned the post, "You instill in us everything that is beautiful. Every year, you are the light of the house. Forever grateful for your love and endless support. Happy birthday to my beloved mother!"
His heartfelt birthday tribute to Iman comes nearly two months after Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa welcomed Princess Iman, their first child (and first grandchild of King Abdullah II). Shortly following her birth, the new dad shared footage of himself gently cradling his daughter. And just a few days later, the royal family shared lovely portraits of the new parents and their child. The caption read, "Thanks to Nishami Royal Medical Services for providing medical care to Rajwa and Iman for the past period. Heartfelt thanks to the dedicated personnel of the Royal Medical Services for their exceptional care over Rajwa and Iman during the past few days."
The new parents tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in June 2023 at Zahran Palace—and it was a star-studded affair. Notable guests included First Lady Jill Biden, Princess Beatrice, Carole Middleton, Kate Middleton and Prince William. And for the occasion, Princess Rajwa wore two dresses, including an Elie Saab gown with an asymmetrical neckline and a cap-sleeve Dolce & Gabbana ballgown.
Later that year—in April, to be exact—the duo announced that they were expecting. A statement released by the royal family read, "The Royal Hashemite Court is pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and Princess Rajwa Al Hussein are expecting their first baby this summer."
