Prince William Gives Rare Update on Wife Kate Middleton

Ahead of the trip, Prince William even gave a shoutout to Middleton (and Africa) on Instagram, writing, “Africa has always held a special place in my heart—as somewhere I found comfort as a teenager, where I proposed to my wife.”

Princess Catherine officially returned to her royal duties in mid-September after finishing preventative chemotherapy. Since then, she’s been easing back into things and last month, she and Prince William made their first public appearance together in Southport, U.K. where the couple looked completely in sync wearing maroon-toned outfits. Kate stunned in a polka dot dress, while William coordinated with a sweater in a matching shade under a sharp gray jacket.

Middleton wasn’t the only family member to get a shoutout during Prince William’s recent trip. In photos captured during one of the week's events, he wore a bracelet with “Papa” on it—a gift his daughter Princess Charlotte made for him when they attended and met Taylor Swift during her Eras Tour stop at Wembley Stadium in June. He promised her he’d wear it on this trip and, as he put it, “try not to lose it.”

The bracelet resembles the friendship bracelets Swifties have been rocking and trading during Swift's Eras Tour, which is on its final leg before wrapping in Vancouver in December.
