A special photo just arrived from Buckingham Palace that features the new British monarch, King Charles III, and his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, Queen consort, posing next to Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The snap was shared to the official royal family Instagram account, where they said, “Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort with Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales. Taken at Buckingham Palace on 18th September by @chrisjacksongetty.”
This photo was taken the day before Queen Elizabeth's funeral when the royal family was still in their period of mourning, which explains why the quartet are pictured in all black.
A little under a week ago, on Tuesday, September 27, it was announced that the official period of mourning had ended for the royal family. The period began when Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8, and lasted for about three weeks.
The announcement was made with a gorgeous black-and-white portrait of the late queen, which was posted to Instagram, along with a caption that said, “The period of Royal Mourning following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth has now ended.”
They added, “The Royal Family account will continue to reflect the work of The King, The Queen Consort and other members of The Royal Family, as well as remembering the life and work of Queen Elizabeth.”
Since then, the royal family members have resumed their duties and we've seen shots of them in action. King Charles was pictured dealing with papers from the iconic Red Box, while Prince William and Princess Catherine embarked on a trip to Wales, to visit different communities and charities there.
While it's surely been tough for the family following Queen Elizabeth's passing, a report from Good Morning America said Prince William expressed that “the outpouring of support from the public has buoyed the royal family amid their grief.”
