Welcome back, Meghan

Meghan Markle is starting 2025 in a big way—by making her return to Instagram after a seven-year hiatus. The Duchess of Sussex made her official comeback on New Year’s Day (aka January 1), and her first post is already making waves (literally).

The post features a short, serene video that perfectly captures fresh-start energy. Reportedly shot by Prince Harry near their family home in Montecito, California, the clip shows Markle running barefoot along the beach with her back to the camera. She stops to etch “2025” into the sand before letting out a playful laugh and jogging away. She left the post captionless.

The former Suits star kept her look minimal for the post, wearing an all-white outfit that perfectly matched the beachy backdrop. Her signature long, dark hair flowed effortlessly down her back, adding to the laid-back vibe.

While comments on the post are turned off, plenty of Markle’s A-list friends—hello, Oprah, Tan France and Chrissy Teigen—were quick to show their support by liking the post or following her page. And it’s clear fans are excited, too. As of early morning January 2, Markle’s account, @meghan (yes, she snagged that coveted handle), has already amassed nearly 800K followers, with the numbers climbing fast. Her profile picture is a stunning black-and-white snap of her smiling in a white dress and her bio simply reads, "Meghan, Duchess of Sussex."

This Instagram comeback arrives nearly a year after Meghan launched her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, in March 2024. It also follows the release of the Sussexes’ 2024 holiday card, which included heartwarming moments from their travels to Cartagena, Colombia and Nigeria. The card even featured an adorable shot of their two children, Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3, running into their parents’ arms.

What a way to start the year—and I'm ready for more.
