Who says you can't do it all?

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry hit the town at the grand opening of a brand-new bookstore in Montecito, California, this week. The star-studded event was packed with celebs, but Markle made a swift exit—and for a pretty relatable reason: her children.

“Wasn’t that incredible?" Markle, 43, said, as she dashed out of the event, held on Saturday, September 7, according to Town & Country. "I’ve got to make dinner for the kids.”

Her kids—Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3, whom she shares with Prince Harry—are clearly top priority, even when you're the Duchess of Sussex.

Before her quick getaway, Markle took the stage at the Godmothers bookstore opening, which is practically around the corner from her and Harry’s Montecito home. And while speaking to the crowd, the Suits alum got real about a low-key 2019 trip she took to NYC to watch her bestie Serena Williams play at the U.S. Open.

“For me, sneaking to New York five years ago was a really big deal. I was still so uncomfortable being out in the world,” she shared. “The safety of what I was craving, I knew I could find in a bookstore.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex weren't the only A-listers at the event. Others like Jane Lynch, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were spotted with the royal couple, while Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos and his wife, Nicole Avant, made an appearance, too. Oh, and Oprah was there as well—and I can't recall having seen her publicly with the Sussexes since their bombshell 2021 tell-all interview.

Fun fact: Oprah even had a hand in naming the bookstore. According to the store’s Instagram, “Named by none other than Oprah herself, Godmothers officially opened its doors this weekend in Summerland, CA, surrounded by our brilliant community.”

The caption went on to add: “For three unforgettable days (Sept 6-8), we celebrated the power of storytelling with dear friends Oprah Winfrey, Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, Shaka Senghor, Whitney Wolfe Herd, MILCK, and more!”

Sounds like an epic weekend for book lovers and celeb watchers alike.
