After the big announcement, Ripa revealed that she enlisted the help of dog trainer Andrea Arden to get Lena settled in. However, she explained that her biggest priority was making sure that her other dog, Chewie (a Shih Tzu), got along with the new pup. Ripa said, "My whole fear was that I didn't want Chewie to feel replaced in any way."
Fortunately, the two dogs instantly hit if off. Ripa said that when she checked to see how Lena was doing in her crate, Chewie was "outside the crate, sitting next to her with their noses together."
As for how the new pet got her name, Ripa felt that it should be similar to the name she had at the shelter: Angelina. However, Ripa's kids have something a bit different in mind. She said, "My kids want her to be named Leia, as in Princess Leia, because we have Chewie. I don't know. I need guidance."
Seacrest then responded, "However, your kids aren't going to be there for most of her life." Fair enough.
