Kate Middleton made headlines recently when she broke her social media silence with a rare personal message. In a tweet (below), she congratulated Sir Ben Ainslie and the INEOS Britannia Team on qualifying for the 37th America’s Cup, signing off with her initial "C." Given how few and far between her public interactions have been lately, this infrequent, personally signed message was a welcome moment for her fans (who are always eager for glimpses of their favorite royal).

This was particularly exciting for her followers because just two days earlier, Kate stepped out for a surprise visit at Windsor Castle. It wasn’t your typical royal appearance—this one felt deeply personal, with Kate offering her support to a 16-year-old named Liz Hatton, a young photographer battling an aggressive form of cancer.

We know both she and Prince William penned a follow-up message together since they signed with their initials, "W&C.”  The moment struck a cord for the Princess of Wales (and her fans), after she revealed her own cancer diagnosis in March. A heartfelt hug between Kate and Liz went viral, with one Twitter user writing: “Sending strength, hope and healing vibes to all cancer sufferers and their families.”

After what’s felt like a quieter year for Kate, these interactions—both in person and online—have reminded fans why they love her. Whether through a heartfelt hug or a rare personal statement, she continues to show her followers she’s doing OK. And judging by the response on Twitter, it’s clear we’re all looking forward to seeing more of the Duchess in the coming months.
