Looks like actress and daytime talk show host Drew Barrymore isn’t in a rush to change her relationship status from “single” to “taken.”

In an exclusive interview with New York Magazine, the Scream alum, 48, opened up about how she’s hesitant to explore a romantic relationship at this moment in her life. “I spent a lot of my life loving romance and drama and all of that. I just burnt myself out on it,” Barrymore told the outlet.

She continued, “I genuinely am tired and exhausted.” The Blended actress has been open about her complicated relationship with dating and intimacy since she divorced her ex-husband of four years, Will Kopelman, in 2016. The pair currently share two children: Olive, 10, and Frankie, 9.

Barrymore candidly shared her thoughts on relationships and intimacy on her talk show last year, when the actress told fans that she hadn’t been intimate since her divorce.

The Never Been Kissed star also opened up her about views on sex after hearing actor Andrew Garfield went six months without sex to prepare for a role. “What’s wrong with me that six months doesn’t seem like a very long time?” she said later in a blog post

“I’m not a person who needs sex and has to go out there and engage with people on that level,” Barrymore added. “I am someone who is deeply committed to fostering how young girls, my daughters, and myself as a woman are supposed to function in this world!”

The mother of two went on to explain that she doesn’t hate sex, but her relationship with it has changed. “So for the record, I do not hate sex! I have just finally come to the epiphany that love and sex are simply not the same thing,” Barrymore said.
