Not sure how to handle a hater or troll? Take a page out of Brooke Shields's book. The 59-year-old actress appeared on Good Morning America to promote her new book, Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old, and during the interview, she shared a story about a comment she received while on Instagram Live.

Shields recalled, “One of the comments was, ‘I really wish you looked the way you used to.’” While most people would be taken aback or even offended by a remark like that, Shields just laughed it off. Meanwhile, the story left GMA anchor Robin Roberts in shock. “This is why you don’t read comments,” one anchor chimed, while a third doubled down, “Never read the comments!”

The Mother of the Bride star kept laughing and clearly wasn’t letting it get under her skin. She added, “And I thought, ‘Boy, we’re all so out of touch, we need to find joy” in aging.'”

And honestly, she’s right. Aging is a privilege, and Shields is embracing it with grace and humor—humor—something everyone can learn from.

And Shields isn't the only one clapping back at internet trolls. Millie Bobby Brown, 20, recently responded to some uncalled-for comments on a mirror selfie she posted on Instagram. One person claimed the Stranger Things star “looked 35,” while another accused her of Googling “how to look 65 when you are 16.” Brown’s response? Simple and powerful: “Women grow!! not sorry about it :)”

It’s not just Shields and Brown who are standing up to online negativity. Sabrina Carpenter shut down rumors that she lip-syncs at her concerts, Prince Harry addressed speculations about his relationship with Meghan Markle and even shut down rumors about their home purchases.

So, next time a troll tries to get to you, just laugh it off like the celebs—it’s the ultimate power move.
