Filming a massive period drama like Bridgerton is surely no easy feat, but imagine filming not one, not two, but three different projects all at the same time. Well, that’s exactly what Jonathan Bailey did and he jokingly admits he’s got a bit of “residual trauma” from trying to do it all.

In a new interview for Variety’s Actors on Actors” series, the 36-year-old actor chatted with Naomi Watts and shared his experience simultaneously filming Netflix’s Bridgerton, the upcoming musical movie Wicked and the drama Fellow Travelers.

When Watts asked Bailey to confirm that he worked on the three projects at the same time, his voice cracked as he answered, “That is true. Did you hear? My voice just broke.”

Watts quipped, “Yeah, because you have PTSD?”

“Maybe? There’s some residual trauma there,” Bailey said with a laugh, later adding, “It was fine at the time.”

The English actor went on to share that there was a moment he worked 33 days in a row going straight from airplane to set.

“I was really calm through that,” he shared. “There’s something to be said for just freefalling, not having enough time, and just going on instincts.”

“But it was progressive,” he added. “There are some videos on my phone that I was crying looking at: It’s me as Tim, in a ’50s tie and jacket [for Fellow Travelers], and then in Nike sweatpants learning the choreography [for Wicked] on the lunch break.”

It seems Bailey has been booked and busy ever since audiences fell in love with him as Anthony Bridgerton on the hit Netflix show, especially after season two which focused on his character’s love story.

Speaking of his love story, if you were wondering about the actor’s love life off-screen, he’s off the market.

Bailey spilled some of the tea to The Standard in December 2023, but he's all about keeping the juicy deets to himself.

He didn’t drop any names, but did share that he's with "a lovely man." He also mentioned, “Keeping my private life private is super important to me. I feel like I wouldn’t have the confidence to speak out on other things if everyone had access to every part of my life.”
