Anne Hathaway Copied This Genius Parenting Hack from Kate Middleton

You know how the saying goes: Kids don’t come with instructions. Instead, savvy moms rely on more seasoned parents to pass on those genius tips (like don’t waste your money on the wipes warmer and always, always carry snacks).

And when it comes to parents with experience, Prince William and Kate Middleton are high on our list. (Yes, we know they have nannies and plenty of help, but raising three kids in the public eye cannot be easy.) Which is why we weren’t totally surprised to discover that even Hollywood royalty turns to the couple for tips and tricks.

In a recent interview with The TimesAnne Hathaway revealed the brilliant parenting tip she got from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

“[William and Kate] get down on the child’s level and speak to them eye-to-eye to make their child feel empowered,” the Princess Diaries star notes. “I thought that was really cool. I started doing that with Jonathan.” Hathaway raises her 2-year-old son, Jonathan, with her husband, Adam Shulman.

By meeting their children eye-to-eye, the duke and duchess aren’t asserting dominance over their brood. Instead, they’re encouraging Prince George and Princess Charlotte (we assume that Prince Louis is too young) to express themselves on equal terms. Talk about #parentinggoals. And the best part? It’s something that even we plebeians can do.

But Hathaway isn’t the only one who has taken notice of this brilliant parenting hack. Meghan Markle is taking the same page out of the duchess’s playbook.

Now, what’s Kate Middleton’s secret for stopping a toddler tantrum at the grocery store? Asking for a friend.
